Airstream numbers

I recently bought a 70 overlander and I am just starting the restoration project. I can see on the ends where the red numbers were (8555). What was the original purpose, or meaning of these numbers? Thanks for any info.

Those numbers were assigned to members of the WBCCI. From what I can see the numbers have not been used in several years and could be assigned to you if you join the club.

Here is a link to the Utah Unit of the club: Airstreamutah

Welcome to he forums and congratulations on your Overlander. The RED numbers are from the WBCCI Airstream club. They have been issuing members red numbers for over 50+ years. A great organization with an incredible history. 100's of local units around the country and Canada. Both of our Airstreams have those wonderful numbers on the caps. Check it our: www.wbcci.org.

Those numbers were assigned to Wendell and Velma Teselle from Hickman, NE in 1978. They may have previously owned that unit but since the numbers are frequently reassigned we can not be sure.

Dwight,

I am not sure how exhaustive your lists are, but can you tell me if anyone other than Claude and Dorotha Waite ever had number 10199?

Thanks,

Craig

Thanks for all the information. I have the original owners manual and Wendell Teselle is the original owner. I would be interested to know how many owners there have been, because I got it in AZ. from a man who got it in Wash., that's all I know.

title search. That is how you find out who owned it. Not every owner is in the red numbered club and not every red number club member puts their numbers on. A title search will really be the only way to find out who might have owned her.

Hmmmm, we joined the Washington Land Yacht Harbor in Lacey, WA and we got the numbers 3868. I wonder who first owned them?
