‘93 trunk door re-coating?

Hello,
The trunk door on my 1993 is somewhat of an eye sore - see attached pic. Given that it’s an isolated area of plasticote failure, I’m wondering if there might be a DIY solution where I can attempt to re-coat the door.

The plasticote on my trailer is in pretty good shape considering it’s 30 years old - with the exception of the roof and the peeling is working its way down the end caps. I know it’s only a matter of time. I have no intention of re-coating the entire trailer - I can live with it. However, I m curious if anyone has dabbled with recoating a small section such as their trunk door. Thanks in advance for any insights.

Re-coating trunk door - any advice?

Hi again,
Thought I’d revisit my post from a while back. I’m curious if anyone has product/process recommendations to re-clear coat (plasticote) a small isolated panel such as my trunk door. Any insights greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I’m reposting the below wondering if anyone might have some advice on re-coating my trunk door. My thinking is to strip the failing plasticote, prep the surface to a sheen similar to the rest of the trailer and then clear coat. I’m interested in clear coat product suggestions.

I’ve read several threads here on plasticotes history and do understand that re-coating an Airstream is a complex, labour intensive endeavour. My project is a small isolated panel, therefore, I’m ok taking a chance on this DIY project.

Any insights are greatly appreciated!
