I have a friend with a 1974 Sovereign Land Yacht. As they are restoring it, they want to get it polished. However, on top of the front end shell assembly is a spot that seems to be rusted, corroded, or something! I will post pics and wanted to see if this is a spot that can be stripped and polished or is it actual damage to the aluminum and will need replacement. Images are high-resolution to show more detail.
Looks like corrosion through the aluminum cladding down to the base metal. Will it polish, with LOTS of work, yes but it won't, be shiny like the alclad would. It'll look like regular polished metal.
Looking at the rest of the trailer visible, polishing that will be very long and difficult, may want to embrace the weathered look! It's very deeply oxidized and pretty scratched from the looks of it.
