Mike, The rules do not specifically address that question, I'd say no but the moderator will have to answer with an official ruling to your question. I have seen partial words used in the past and we moved forward, so I'm gonna go with it.

We have this on our forum in the UK and it's fun

Fancy yourself as a music buff? Then try this game

Use a word from the song title or artist to make the next song title and artist.

It must be a track not the title of an album and you must not use the same artist in consecutive posts.

Example:-

Black Night - Deep Purple

This could be followed by:-

Paint it Black - The Rolling Stones

But this could not be followed by - Brown Sugar by the Rolling Stones because this was also by the Rolling Stones

Get the idea?

As for "a part of a word", I recall no objections to use of that strategy being posted.

If you take a minute to read the rules though, you will see that the artist is not to be duplicated, so the two "Tommy James" songs posted consecutively recently should not have been posted.
