Word is now in that the three 13-year old girls that actually BOUGHT the book have listed them on eBay where they remain at .01 with no reserve and no bids.

Thanks so very much for your time.
I come from a large family. I enjoy vintage trailers and red wine. I feel that living your life in contradiction keeps one confused and happy. I dislike those that litter. Sometimes I like to go to the zoo and ride on the backs of bison. I dream of Iceland from time to time. It makes me laugh when people miscommunicate. I like walking over bridges and hate Donald Trump or anything like him. I drive a Subaru. It is an automatic. I cry sometimes in that car. Thanks so very much for your time.

Just who around here fit's THIS description???
"A curmudgeon's reputation for malevolence is undeserved. They're neither warped nor evil at heart. They don't hate mankind, just mankind's absurdities. They're just as sensitive and soft-hearted as the next guy, but they hide their vulnerability beneath a crust of misanthropy. They ease the pain by turning hurt into humor. . . . . . They attack maudlin-ism because it devalues genuine sentiment. . . . . . Nature, having failed to equip them with a serviceable denial mechanism, has endowed them with astute perception and sly wit.
Curmudgeons are mockers and debunkers whose bitterness is a symptom rather than a disease. They can't compromise their standards and can't manage the suspension of disbelief necessary for feigned cheerfulness. Their awareness is a curse.
Perhaps curmudgeons have gotten a bad rap in the same way that the messenger is blamed for the message: They have the temerity to comment on the human condition without apology. They not only refuse to applaud mediocrity, they howl it down with morose glee. Their versions of the truth unsettle us, and we hold it against them, even though they soften it with humor."

We need more curmudgeons.
This thread has been an exercise in the theater of the absurd mixed with nonsequiturs and now another direction is being disclosed.

It used to be that when a friend passed away you had to erase their name from the Christmas card address book and their name from the birthday card list. It was one less place to go as an option on your Sunday drive, and someone who will be sadly missed at the campfire when out with friends and family enjoying natures wonders.
Today, though, it seems much harder. Yes, there are all of the above things that have to be done and they are no easier, but think what we've added to the mix. You have to go around to each phone, be it house bound or cellular, and remove their home and cell numbers. You have to remove their email address(es) from your computer. Each of these activities is SO final . It seems so much harder to let them go because not only did you have the contact one uses to have when you went to visit or met up somewhere, but you also had virtually instant contact. If you were out shopping and saw something you knew they'd like or get a kick out of you could take a picture and fire it off to them knowing that in moments you'd have a response and a shared moment that won't happen ever again. You could expect that same back and in some cases that happened often and at times could almost be embarrassing, but often funny . And you shared emails about a lot of things that in the past, while sitting around that camp fire or out fishing or for a walk, or just as couples getting together you couldn't find a way to bring it up, but on line you knew they would read it when they could and responses were pretty much always more "liberal" than what you'd get in a group setting.
So go through those names on your email list, and the same on your phone addresses, and drop them a hello now, while you can. It doesn't matter how old they are or how healthy they appear, life happens, and so while it is happening in a way that you can share it, do it!
And get them out in their trailer this year camping and enjoy that time with them because all the electronic communication is great, but it just doesn't make up for face to face chatter and natter and sharing "yourselves" with each other. Or should tha be rewarding each other with your presence.
Today I've been doing the deletion. It has taken me two months to do it. It is so final. But I do have something I'd not of had twenty years ago that makes it much easier. I've got emails, jokes, words of wisdom and tales of woe, pictures of the things he thought were funny or sad or that I'd find of interest in some way and I know in the moment of taking and sending them he was thinking just of me and our friendship.
Now I've got to set up a camping trip with some friends I haven't seen for qutie some time and I know I'm going to miss .

And can you imagine Bob getting up in the middle of the night to hit the bathroom? Every camper within a mile will be wide awake and wondering what the heck is going on. Cheap for shoes and slippers though.
