two inches in three hours. hmmm, you need pontoons, Brother, not ear plugs. You'd have a better chance in a trailer, not a MHO with that big piece of noisy iron ballast. But to answer your question, the resonant frequency is in the whale range, below your hearing.
Besides, in that kind of rain, it ought to be cool, so why do you need an air conditioner?
Chaplain, if it wasn't you, I'd ask if this means you're a "favorite uncle", but I'll let it go this time...

The way you wrapped it all up has made it start to make sense, maybe even sound logical. Are you a mediator or negotiator or something?
Wait! This just made me think of something On another post there is talk about the Cape Horn to Cairo caravan in 2009. All that coordinating they are trying to do reminded me of early Americans going out West on wagon trains. Since some ASers are unsure of the security in Africa, maybe we could follow some of the early pioneer wagon trails in our AS here in the US instead. I have not researched that yet, but are there some actual routes that could be done in AS? To me that would be interesting to see the lands they crossed, to learn of the battles, to honor theirs and the native Americans' struggles.
Boy did I just hijack the thread or what??

I hope this is posted at the end because I didn't have time to read 7 pages and the thought has likely changed. The original poster Zep I think has a good point.
Always refer to the original post. Quote somebody's post in its entirety unless you are looking for self gratification and trying to pass it on to others. It's ok to pick it apart but always give the original poster credit for his or her ENTIRE thought, right or wrong.

I passed a kidney stone once. I never passed it on to someone else though.

Thanks
Thanks for the hula smilie and the other one too, I can picture them animated. Those are clever.
On a more serious note Overlander:
"Always refer to the original post. Quote somebody's post in its entirety unless you are looking for self gratification..."
I usually cut the quote short for the sake of brevity, never to be rude. Am I wrong to think that people don't want to read the whole post over and over?
Also, the great part of this thread is that people can purposefully choose to hijack it and I think it has shown good humor. It lightened up right away and keeps getting, well, if not better at least more interesting. And I think engaging. If we have this one thread to goof around with, then we'll behave elsewhere, promise. Maybe.

In order to reduce thread hijacking, I suggest that all posts must include at least some content relating to the original thread topic. Posts containing only wisecracks, flames, flame responses, tangents, etc. not allowed--go start your own durn thread! I mean, let's face it, there's way too much fun and oblique thinking going on around here! Some members want questions answered, projects documented, and boondocking locations publicized!
Humor and social threads excepted, of course.
This should apply to members with [choose one] (1) fewer than 3 rivets, (2) more than 2 rivets, (3) everybody, (4) not Rivet Masters, (5) those who haven't gotten their AIR stickers, ....

I think Randy's post had his tongue stuck so far in his cheek, I could see the end of it in his ear...
Has anyone thought of using compressed Helium to inflate their tires? It would reduce the unspring weight, and checking for leaks would be easy. All you would have to do is start talking when you walk past you trailer, if you suddenly started talking funny, you know you have a leak in the tire.

I assume that every one of you nuts has gotten their AIR stickers...
btw, thanks for all the input. I'm making a killing adding descriptions to the American Standard for Psychological Disorders, mostly in the area of adult Attention Deficit Disorder.

Not to continue the hijacking ( ), but how is the AIR sticker campaign going? I wonder how many of our 15000 membership have contributed to the forum? No names needed, of course, just numbers might be interesting and encouraging to others to want to join in. If this is judged to not be appropriate, just ignore the suggestion! ~G

Wrong! Please do not quote entire huge posts, especially when you are adding a one- or two-liner response to a small section of that post. It is much more effective to quote only relevant parts so that the reply has context.
As a moderator, I often truncate the quoted portions of posts that have huge quotes and small replies.
That said, please do not truncate quotes to distort the intent of the original poster.

may I be allowed to observe that "we" are catching many posters with wry/cynical/tongue-in-cheek "rules". Those of you who are caught, please picture yourself with index finger in mouth, pulling on cheek....
