Nice town -- Too bad my northerly transplanted shoes will be frozen to the ground by then. I spent a lot of time there in the 50's and 60's. Two aunts and an uncle lived there -- Duanna, Wilma and Conway (good Texas names).

I was in Ingram and Kerrville last month. The Guadalupe River had water in it. Folks would enjoy if the Blanco River was down enough to see the dinosaur tracks in the limestone bed.

I'm in

I have a full-hookup site reserved. Bad news is that I found out this week have a compressed fracture of a vertebra and I don't know whether I will need surgery. If I have to cancel, I'll offer my reservation to someone else who can come.

Reservation, check.. (now all I need is a trailer)

I booked a reservation and am looking forward to it.

I am 85% sure that next week I am headed to Mesa, AZ to buy a trailer. A forum member is checking out the trailer for me on Saturday and by this time next week I could be on I-10 headed for El Paso. I'm looking at a '59 Flying Cloud.

Wish me luck!

Here's wishing you luck, jlawrence. I'll wager that the 85% isn't high enough

Thumbs up

Just returned from a few days out in the Hill Country (Lost Maples State Park).
So nice to find all the replies and interest!
We ran into a bunch of Airstreamers in Kerrville. It was the Texas Hill Country unit having there installation Rally (installing new officers that is).
One of the members had 8 stars on the trailer. Wow!
Being members at large, we were of course ask to join their unit, which I politely declined and told them about the 3000+ plus members of airstreamforums.com, which none of them was aware of. Interesting!
Fo those of you interested in coming to Blanco, the State Park is within walking distance (15 minutes) of the town center.
Just outside of the gates is another small RV park, in case you decide to come in the last minute and the park is full.
On the other side of town (towards Henly on RR 165) is another RV park that just opened.
...and there is some damn good BBQ, too.

Ralley Subject

Any one with generator expertise - I'll have adult beverages in trade for solving Onan problems.

I replaced the carb with a new one. Same problem. Runs OK for about 3 minutes, then sputters and dies (no load situation).

It won't start with one or the other of the spark leads disconnected, so I cannot identify one cylinder or the other as a problem. Right now, I am leaning toward valve sticking. The oil is terribly polluted (black) after a run time of only a couple of hours. The exhaust is also very dirty.

Anyone have a possible electrical explanation of the above symptoms? Not quite yet ready to give up on the existing unit, but at 17 years, and 750 hours, maybe it's time.

I better put a big ole Padlock on my Honda genset compartment.
After replacing the carb and still having the same symptoms, I would strongly consider a blown head gasket. Do a compression check.

Sounds like a great idea!!,

I've just gotten a site reserved but as usual have done it without consulting the wife as that is the only way I can get stuff done.

Hope she don't have other plans, I will be exactly sure if I am coming in a few days or so.

Map of Blanco State Park.
Sites 1-10,51 and 52 are full hook-up and 50 amp, but they are a bit crowded.
All the other sites have 30 amp, no sewer, but lots of room. Site #20 and 22 are a bit small for big rigs

Coors!

When I lived in Colorado, I used to race my sailboat against Pete Coors; he's the silver-haired guy that sometimes apprars in Coors commercials and a really nice guy. At the time, old Joe Coors was still alive and running things his way; Pete lived in a very modest house and sailed a Catalina 22 like me.

One time at a regatta, they rolled out a keg of Coors that had been stored hot for a long time; it was dark colored and really rancid. Pete took one look, said "dump it", and got on the phone. An hour later, a big beer truck rolled up with some fresh beer. No charge.

I trust Blanco can handle the influx of 4 classic Motorhomes and 3 Trailers. (so far)
Reminds me of our arrival at Lost Maples:
What kind of RV do you have? An Airstream...
And ??? Just an Airstream....
So they all came out to look at it. They have never seen an Airstream that drives.

Sounds good here. We had a great potluck at the last forum rally at Pedernales Falls. We were few in number but full in belly when it was over.
