Hey y’all, seriously? CanOpener less than a month out, and this thread sits dormant for two whole days? Why, back in my day...

Unfortunately we need to cancel Canopener, would have been our 5th year. Gonna miss everyone this time around. Please take Firedog (Russ & Lisa) off the list for chili. Ill make double batch for next year. Site 071 up for grabs. I just cancelled it online.

Firedog, yall will be missed. Pulled your chili from the list. Catch you next year.

Levon, looking forward to your 2 year old "Special Sauce"!

Panama Red, the board has been relatively quiet this year. The first reason is you were missing! My guess on the second reason is all are saving it up for when they are there!

Yall are all probably getting tired of the Chili Feed updates, but no idea of another way to keep up with it.

Snow in Houston and San Antonio last night! I sure hope we have better weather at Canopener!

Do you ever have better weather at CanOpener? Froze my butt off both years... well, until I got full up on antifreeze. Wish we could be there, don’t think we will make it though.

-Red, trying to think up a workaround...

Yes only the chilli. The rally outgrew pot lucks. The clubhouse has a capacity of only 80 folks, probably 50 if food is set up. There will be plenty to do. Watch for the camp fires and listen to where the music is coming from. Somebody might show up with a pie, ice cream or brownies. You just never know.

It is called the vortex theory or some such nonsense. All that tin moving into the area draws in cold fronts.

There's something to that. The Louisiana Airstream Club is holding its Christmas Rally right now in the New Orleans area, and we had snow yesterday, which only happens about once every ten years on average.

So as long as there's no snow at Canopener, that will be an improvement in my book, regardless of the temperature.

Chili Wranglers sign up

We are newbies to the Canopener and would like to sign up for helping as Chili Wranglers. We figure that will be a great way to meet people.

Parcel delivery to Canopener or nearby?

Could someone advise me on how I might get something delivered by UPS or US post while we are at the Canopener, can I send it to a postal station nearby for general delivery, will they hold it there until I arrive or is there an alternative? I'd like to order a few things on line, mainly fabric that I cannot get here in Canada. Quilters & sewers will understand......Deb

My wife (Mara) is into all that... we understand

We visited the Cowbell brewery in Ontario this summer. Great brewery and great beer. We have some great local beer here in Little Rock and will bring some. Safe travels.
