For anyone unable to get a Topsail spot there are several state parks and private campgrounds in the area.

Yep--we've made reservations at Grayton Park, which is the closest state park. Got tired of worrying with checking the Topsail Beach one, so decided to stop there and just drive over to Topsail to join the party.

Volunteer needed for nametags

Brad and i are so dissapointed that we won't be able to make the Canopener this year! Our rescue dog Dottie was just diagnosed with heartworm (she had 3 positive tests and three negative tests and the diagnosis was just made by echocardiogram). She's stated treatment but her last shot will be on January 9th. So it's just not going to work for us this year.

I was in charge of NAMETAGS again this year and I need someone to take over the task for me. You'd need to purchase plastic nametag casings and clips ( I can tell you from personal experience that it's much cheaper to get them online rather than wait till the last minute and go to Office Max. &#128521. I may have the name of a good vendor to use.

Last year I just printed the Canopener logo on regular printer paper. I was going to hand write the information on the tag but my wonderfully helpful husband did them on the computer instead. I then cut the tags to size.

It's not too time consuming. And you get to meet everyone who attends because they come to you for their tags. So, it's a nice way to meet a whole bunch of people.

If you're able to take on this task, can you send me a pm? I'll help with the transition and be available for any questions you might have. Thanks!

We have a site!

WooHoo! We have a site! The Clampett, err Nolte, crew will be coming. Yay!
I tried for a site the Angles were giving up and missed it by a hair, .

But then I received a message from StreamNmemee, Bill & Shelley, that they weren't going to make it this year... and he offered us their site and we got it this time! Thank you Bill and Shelley!

So the Nolte crew will be there, on site 108, doing our best to represent StreamNmemee and PanamaRed. See ya'll in January!

PS-Hide your garnishes, the kid is coming with us!
Seriously though, we will bring some extra okra for the bloody mary table.

Canopener Rally Signup and Map Updates

Time to get serious everyone. The big event is only seven weeks away. It is almost time to print name tags and finalize the rally maps. Your campground reservation did not register you for the rally. To register for the rally you need to click on the following link to the official RSVP page, scroll to the bottom of the page, and provide your site number, arrival date and the first names of the human beings in your party. Nametags and welcome packets are developed based on the information on the RSVP page so if you don't register, there won't be a packet for you!

RSVP Page Canopener 2017

The maps linked below have been updated for the recent changes to the RSVP page. Please look at your listing and let me know if there are any errors. If your trailer and names don't appear, make sure you registered on the RSVP page above. If you have cancelled your plans to attend the event, please go to the RSVP link scroll to the bottom of the page and click the appropriate place to let us know you aren't coming. Thanks for your help and here are the map links:

I had to cancel my reservation for this year. I have oral surgery scheduled and I can't put it off. I think "trumpetguy" already has picked up the reservation.

Since this is our first Canopener, I was wondering if there is a schedule of events and potlucks planned during the event?
Thanks.

I recently found out that you can call reserve America and change your reservation into some else's name. You don't get you money back, but it can pass it along to whom ever you want. Repayment from one to the other can be made on the side.

We just did this for a camping trip at Rainbow River Camp Ground.

Thanks.

There is the Chili Pitch In, last year it was on Saturday at the Clubhouse along with the famous Cornhole Tournament and that guy giving away some free green drinks.
Keep an eye on this thread, as the lists and sign up will appear soon.

Looking for a site for Silverleaf and her people. This would be our first Canopener, but we have friends that say it's a "must go" event. If anyone finds that they can't make it after all, please drop me a note before canceling and we can call the park to get the reservation transferred. Florida in January? Definitely!
