And thanks to Airstream Inc and Foley RV for the great door prizes!

Rick Foley (Foley RV/Airstream of Mississippi) brought his restored 1955 Airstream to the rally and showed it to many lookers during the open house. Here are a few pics of the trailer:

Thank you Canopenians!

Joe and I have already been looking back on all the fun we had during Canopener 2016, beginning with the pre pre-party on New Year's Eve and ending with the open air pajama party this morning!!
Canopener is such a special rally and what really makes it so special is ALL the fabulous folks who attend who come out and play, participate, meet new friends and socialize regardless of what the weather reports say who give so freely of their time and talents and who donate so willingly and happily to help this amazing Topsail Hill Preserve State Park we all love (to the tune of over $1,000 this year, way to go all you Canopenians ).
With over 130 Airstreams at Canopener this year, this is a big ol' honkin' rally (which begs the word "Duh"!). And it's thanks to a Total Team effort that makes it all come together so wonderfully! So here's a shout out to Team Canopener:
Florida 55 (Chuck) not only the Keeper of the Maps, but also the man behind the camera and the video productions.
Diverjean(Jean) for stepping up to the plate and getting name tags done.
Luckyducks (Russ) for getting all the maps, agenda and open house signs for the welcome bags; for being Jose's right hand man and for your invaluable advice.
TVKetchum (Tom & Vicki) for putting together an awesome New Year's Eve party and for hosting a new favorite Sunday morning pajama party.
JudyJudy and boogieshoes (Judy & Michael) for taking on the ginormous and delicious Chili Feed.
Every Person who helped with the Chili Feed by bringing food, utensils, set up or cleaned up.
HowieE (Howie) for making sure all the little details at each event are covered and taken care of.
Rumrunner (Jose) for being a great DOC (Director Of Cornhole) again this year.
For all the cornhole participants, scorers, spectators and hecklers - without you there'd be no tourney.
FrankMcfee (Reba & Frank) for coming up with the fantastic idea of playing Bunko on Friday Fun Day.
AlandMissy (Al & Missy) for offering to make some delicious crawfish etouffe and giving us a reason to have a Saturday night happy hour event (ok, like any Canopenian really needs a reason to have a happy hour )
The not ready for prime time "Aluminotes" for putting together one heckuva jam session
To all you campfire and happy hour hosts for giving everyone even more opportunities for fun and fellowship.

And a very very special thank you to our most fabulous Canopener friends,Rick Foley and Ron Lester from Foley RV Center, who always come through with some awesome gifts (aprons and goodie/welcome bags!) and prizes. On behalf of all Canopenians, we thank you for your continued support of the one and only Canopener

It's been a fun, wild and crazy two year run for helping organize the Canopener, and now it's time to pass this opportunity on to someone else
We look forward to seeing y'all somewhere down the road. Until then, traveling mercies to all,
Annette & Joe

Our first Canopener - it was a bit cold but all the people were ever so warm. It was great - thanks to everyone who helped make it so great an experience.

Can you smell propane? If you can open up. Where the tanks recently filled? If so it could be at the connection on the tanks. If not it could be at any of the connections, use soapy water on all connections and look for small bubbles to show up. Paint the soapy water on with a brush, old tooth brush etc. Or as a last resort use your fingers.

Turn off the appliances that use propane. If you can't find the leak, turn off the propane at the tanks and purge the remaining propane by turning on the stove BUT only if there is no smell and the vents and windows are open.

These are usually at the tanks.

I am not there, but was cruising the thread.

This was a great rally meeting up with friends and making new friends. Thanks to all you helped prior to the rally and during the rally because of all the extra effort this was a great rally. It was a blast. See everyone next year 🎉🍷🍻🇺🇸👍👯❤️

Jose, Great Cornhole tournment 🥇. You did a great job especially with the weather snag that hit us all. Keep up the great work XOXO.

We still want to learn Bunco (hint hint Frank and Reba).

Thanks to Joe, Annette, and all who made this a great rally.

I especially appreciate those who made an effort to speak and/or converse, helping a solo newbie, and her devoted traveling companion, to feel welcome.

Just here to echo the thanks to Annette and Joe for all of the time and energy they committed to Canopener the last two years; and to everyone who helped out with all of the activities before and during. It's such teamwork that makes Canopener so much fun!!

Hope it was taken care of. If you filled a cylinder when it was cold out, and then the temp goes up, it will vent the excess pressure. You can usually see a bit of vapor from the vent by the valve, even if the valve is off. It will stop when the pressure drops to the vent's setting. It is a safety feature to prevent a ruptured tank.

If you are smelling the propane inside, open windows and get out. Shut off the tanks, and when the odor has dissipated make sure stove, oven, hot water, fridge are off. A little soapy water dabbed on the joints in the lines when pressurized will show a leak with bubbles. Often, a little tightening will stop it.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the wonderful weekend at the CanOpener in spite of the weather. Met wonderful people, ate great food and really enjoyed the camaraderie. Thought I'd share this evenings sunset here in Destin with all the folks who headed home to colder weather... A special thanks to Annett and Joe for all the hard work making this happen!

Dates for 2018 will be January 4-7 I suspect. A new 2018 thread will be started by the end of January before reservations need to be made.
Still looking for head party planner.
Stay tuned.

So Little Time...So Much To Do

Thank you Annette and Joe for taking on the Party Coordinator job again this year. Thank you Roadtoaster for the fabulous whiskey experience, Alphonse for the outstanding new year's meal, Levon for the Rye, CaptainHank for happy hour, VicKetchum for the wonderful closing breakfast, Lucky Ducks for your assistance and guidance, Howie for your troubleshooting expertise, DeltaQueen for your sniffer and friendship, etc..., etc..., etc...

It was a fabulous Rally as always and I'm looking forward to next year to hang around with the usual suspects and the new friends we just made. Life is Good and we are blessed well beyond our needs. So above all...Thank You Lord for another successful Canopener.

Love you all, Jose and Rico

PS - Red; we missed you this year. I guess those filthy windows REALLY needed a lot of elbow grease to get them ready for travel. We hope to see you next year.

Sorry I am so late with this,

Thanks to Two Peas for the tour of their 26U. Lived in trailers look so different than static show room models. Makes me crave a 26U even more seeing theirs.

Also,

Thanks to all the folks that made this years Canopener possible.

Canopener Video

I'm currently in the process of putting together the video for the recent Canopener 2017. I do not have photos of the breakfast with the ranger or the ranger hike. If someone has photos or video clips of these events to share for the video, please PM me.

In addition, if you have a photo or several photos taken during Canopener you think are particularly memorable and would like to share for the video, please PM me.

Thank you.
