Florida55 (Chuck),
I've been posting our RSVPs with updates as reqested, and included Mabeygal (Betsy) in my comments. Thanks for checking up on us newbies - just some confusion because we both have accounts. As reported, we're looking forward to this year as we're out of the cabins and into our first AS! As the RSVP states, we'll be there from New Year's Eve till Monday after Canopener. We're excited about meeting everyone and trying to learn all we can about our new (used) AS! We're bringing our bikes, cornhole boards, some chili (I think), and my guitar. See you all soon!

As of this morning (7:45 am) there are 29 cabins still available for rent at Topsail Hill for the dates of the 2017 Canopener rally. There are also a few tent sites at Topsail.

As of a few minutes ago there is one RV site (#58) available at nearby Grayton Beach State Park for the Canopener dates and 23 cabins. Grayton Beach State Park is only 7.8 miles from Topsail Hill. There are also sites available at privately owned Camp Gulf, 4.2 miles from Topsail Hill.

Florida state park campgrounds have several sites that aren't in the reservation system, available on a first come first served basis for campers who show up at the park. If you are lucky you may be able to arrive at Topsail or Grayton Beach early (a few days before the rally) snag one of the non-reservable sites, and stay on it through the rally dates. A fallback position would be to stay a a nearby private park such as Camp Gulf.

If the campground allows it, there is also room for a small something to piggy back on my site, as I am only 22' long and not towing anything.

We Are ... PENN STATE

So that we are not on the road somewhere between Pennsylvania and Florida on the date of the big game (Rose Bowl), we are arriving at Topsail on 1/1 and staying in site 109 for 3 days before moving to site 51 on 1/4.
To celebrate New Year's Day (a day later), we'll be sharing hot dogs and sauerkraut, a central Pennsylvania tradition, with anyone who wants to stop by site 109 on 1/2. Look for the Penn State flag.
Of course we are assuming the weather cooperates and we make it south before any major storm comes our way.

Welcome to the one and only Canopener Rally Stewball! You've already got the right attitude about participating so count on having a grand time And since you're coming in early, I hope y'all can be a part of the New Year's Eve progressive party too. Check this thread for details and see you next week

Wait for it, wait for it--
New Year's Eve Progressive Dinner and Celebration::

Details to come by this weekend, but highlights will include:

Appetizers at two sites, dinner and dessert at additional sites, and celebratory New Year's toasts at yet another, plus a surprise to be disclosed soon!! We'll get to know the campground loops and each other as the early early birds to the party.

By the way, we're still looking for one site to host a second appetizer stop, and someone to host a second dessert stop. You don't have to provide much, just something simple, and be willing to have us stop by your site for about 30 minutes! This is such a great way to get to know some great fellow Airstreamers!!

If you want to contribute food/drink to one of the stops, let me know that as well!

It's going to be a great prelude to the Canopener!!
