Here's the "never to be ever final" schedule of events for CanOpener 2016 - 10th Anniversary Edition (remember the schedule is like the pirate code..........it's more of a guideline, aaarrrggghhh)

THURSDAY, JANUARY 7TH:
5:00p.m. = Chili Night Potluck at the clubhouse AND amphitheater. Bring your own eating utensils, drinks and chairs or blankets to sit on out at the amphitheater; we'll serve in the clubhouse but eat out under the stars!
7:00p.m. = Concert Series featuring The Currys (see post #562 by Russ/Luckyducks), provided by The Friends Of Topsail. These concerts have always been a fun and festive time with great and talented performers and possibly some spontaneous dancing. Bring your own drinks and come hang out by the fire pits around the amphitheater!

FRIDAY, JANUARY 8TH:
12:00pm = 4th Annual Cornhole Invitational Tournament & Margaritaville
Where = Wild Oak Lane, C loop. Whether you play or not, come and bring your chairs, line the street and feel free to cheer or heckle your favorite players! A fun time WILL be had by all. $1.00 entry fee for the tourney, single elimination with winner take all! Our defending champion is Levon followed by previous two time winner Wes (affectionately known as dh).
4:30ish-5:30ish = Unofficial Welcome to CanOpener Happy Hour
Where = Site 112. Bring your own source of "happy".

SATURDAY, JANUARY 9TH:
9:00a.m. = Breakfast With The Ranger, at the clubhouse. Sign up is required please
10:30ish = Bloody Saturday, site 112
12:30 = The All Aluminum All The Time Open House Extravaganza. If you'd like to open your trailer to your fellow CanOpenians you will be provided with a paper in your welcome goodie bag indicating you're participating, or simply keep your trailer door open!
7:00p.m. = DJ, Dancing, Karaoke and Fire at the amphitheater Bring your beverage of choice, your singing voice and your dancing shoes to the party under the stars!

SUNDAY, JANUARY 10TH:
9:00a.m. = Pajama Party Coffee Bar, site 127, BYOC - bring your own cup! Details to be announced later......stay tuned....

Hints for a happy camper time at CanOpener:
1) Get out of your trailer, walk around and meet your fellow CanOpenians!
2) Participate in as many or as little of the activities you like!
3) If you see a lit fire ring, walk up, introduce yourself and join the party!
4) Remember this is a very large gathering so be flexible and know that all activities are always Weather Dependent
5) Smile and be thankful you own an Airstream and are a part of the most awesome traveling community on the planet!

Y'all may have noticed the absence of the Saturday night and Sunday morning potlucks. After much thought and many conversations, we decided to not have these events this year. Here is some of the reasoning behind our decision:
1) Weather, if we get rain on a Saturday night the potluck event is toast because due to the sheer number of people attending, we can no longer hold this event in the clubhouse.
2) Sheer number of people! With the growing number of lovely folks attending the CanOpener, trying to feed 200+ has resulted in insanely long lines (sometimes over 45 minutes!) and often the food has run out by the time those at the back of the line get a shot!
3) Having more time to socialize with our fellow Canopenians. Due to the early hour we need to have the potluck dinner, the cooks in the crowd have had to leave the open house event to go back to the trailer and cook. By omitting the potluck dinner, everyone is able to mingle and socialize at their leisure on Saturday.
4) Not having to wake up at o'dark thirty on Sunday morning to cook for a breakfast potluck! We're still having a Sunday morning gathering, just putting a different twist on it.
I'm confident that even though these beloved events won't occur this year, there will be plenty of food, fun and fellowship to be had at CanOpener 2016!
We look forward to seeing everyone soon,

For this year's Canopener attendees interested in vintage Airstreams, the world's oldest Airstream, a 1935 Torpedo, is currently for sale at Heintz Vintage Trailer Restorations in nearby Panama City, Florida. Another suggestion for day trip, Seaside. Just down 30A east a few miles. They have a collection of 6 vintage Airstreams that have been converted to food carts. Personally can recommend the BBQ and Indian.
