Thanks everyone!

A special thanks to Gary and Janet. Despite the pine pollen giving me a horrible headache and the "breeze", we had a great time this weekend visiting with old friends and making new ones. Good food, great company and what an outstanding place to camp! Just beautiful. Hope to see you all down the road real soon. Bonnie and Roger Miller

A special thank you as well.

Well, we just got back home from a week and half of "glamping" at some absolutely wonderful places here in Oregon and Washington. All the places we stayed at were absolutely wonderful. However, without a doubt the best and the most memorable stay was the rally at Trout Lake. It was by far the best because of the beautiful setting and the wonderful hospitality and kindness we "newbies" received from all the folks who attended. People really went out of the way to welcome us and make us feel that we were a part of the group.

We were likewise blown away with how well the rally was organized and yet how relaxed the whole atmosphere was. Like everyone else a big thanks goes out to Janet and Gary for taking this on. I cannot begin to fathom how much work went into all this but they seem to accomplish it almost effortlessly.

The only regret in the we had about the rally is that we did not attend all of the previous ones. We do so hope the rally can continue in the future and that we will be able to make the future ones. Again, many special thanks to everyone and thank you also for the "pink flamingo". We are still in the process of searching for a pair of legs for him.

We had a fabulous time (as usual) and it was wonderful to see everyone and meet the newest streamers. The new Eddie Bauer was lovely and had that wonderful new Airstream smell

Chris - thanks so much for cooking Sunday night and for bringing your canopy and lights.

@ janis timlick : Can you share the recipe for the amazing chocolate chip pecan pie?

Pretty please??

This year was special and we had a great time. We love seeing everyone at Trout Lake each year. We enjoy meeting new people and catching up with everyone while enjoying all the food, music and great conversation. See you next year. Thanks Janet and Gary for all your dedicated hard work with this rally.

I might come out for that one by myself. Dave has to work, but I think I need to get out to TL at least ONCE this year!

Mame's for sale

Hey Everybody. Ruth and I went to Palm Springs last week and saw an airstream for sale and now we own a 23' International CCD and we are going to sell the 19' International CCD so let us know if you or anyone you know wants to buy a trailer with cool red, black and white interior. Hope you are all well! Thanks again for a wonderful, relaxing, perfect weekend at Area 33.

Congrats on the new airstream! We are going to be in Portland in July and would really like to see it. I will give you a call when we know the exact dates that we will be there. Hopefully it will work with your busy schedule.

Just let us know when you plan to visit and we will do our best to hook up with you. We live in the city and do not keep our airstream in Portland. We store it at my brothers home near Salem. We look forward to hearing from you.

Just an update - we are going to be moving the party to the local county campground - area 33 is hosting a large wedding and isn't available. We'ld love to see you there but understand if you aren't feeling the love, camping with the county...

Janet thanks for invite. I have a work thing in Reno that weekend so we won't be available. Of, course I share my recipes..just have to find it. It was super easy. Here is the crust for one double crust or two single crust pies:

2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup lard
5 to 7 cups cold water
Sift dry ingredients together, cut in the shortening, carefully add the water until dough holds together. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for a couple of hours or over night. Be careful not to handle too much.
Then I roll out and fit into pans.

I'll look for the chocolate pecan pie and post next.

The chocolate pecan pie is from Southern Plate and is super easy:
Ingredients

1 ready-made 9" Deep-dish pie crust
1/2 cup chocolate chips
3 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup butter melted (real butter only for me)
1 cup corn syrup ( like Karo)
1 cup pecan halves or pecan pieces
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375.
In one big bowl, use a hand mixer on low for about minute to beat eggs, sugar, salt, melted butter and corn syrup together. Stir pecans into mixture. Put choc. chips on bottom of pie shell and slowly pour pecan mixture over chocolate chips. Bake between 45 and 60 minutes (depending on your oven) until it is set. Cool for a few minutes before cutting. Serve w/ Vanilla ice cream for a real treat!

FYI sometimes I don't get all these replies--or I'm not very good at watching for them. If you ever need to contact me: janis@timlick.com hits all my emails and phone.
