What a beautiful, perfect place for a rally! Can't wait to see it filled with silver.

Everything is paved, will be great for bike riding.

A few bars of Verizon 3g and one bar of cell signal.....so a bit of connection to the outside world.

Now.....for bread.

See y'all soon,

Maggie

Maggie:

I mixed up my dry ingredients for my basic, beginner's loaf of DO bread and will bring the recipe with me. Are you still willing to let me pull it together in your AS and host my rising bread overnight Friday for Saturday baking?

Looking forward to learning how to use my DO correctly.

Absolutely, Page, but bring your own bowl as I only have a couple and they will be busy.

I have plenty of utensils and that kind of thing.

There are two other Airstreams here for the rally.

A lovely, lovely place.

If I don't have it packed, I don't know what it is. Box oven coming too I think it'll be cornbread making with the bean soup.

Tank is full of Diesel, fridge sorta full, almost wish the shortbed Dodge was a longbed.

Missing anything? Ohh Ohh 1,000 posts!

Locked and loaded for the AM departure; now the secret is escaping the Atlanta traffic in the morning!

Looking forward to the best SE event in September and the wonderful weather which just arrived in time for great evenings around various campfires.

I'll have a propane pressure meter along should the need arise during the weekend "fix it" seminar.

We are hitched up, loading tonight and in the morning. Our rig will travel to work tomorrow and we should make Lake Wateree around 7pm. Can't wait to get there.

Tonights preparations came apart just a bit. Pulling the camper home for loading, I noticed that my Hensley wouldn't straighten. Seems it has bought the farm after 9 years and 150,000 miles (more or less). While trying to jack up the trailer to remove the Hensley, my trailer jack failed. We will be towing the rig without the Hensley (or any other sway control) for the first time since our trip home from the dealer, in 2005. Should be an interesting trip. We will welcome any advice on the Superjack. Until it recovers, we may be using the backup crank.

See everyone tomorrow evening!

Thank you, Maggie.

The recipe I am using states the bread has a better texture if it is refrigerated for 12 hours before it is set out to rise for 18 hours. I am going to mix it, get it tucked into its bowl and put in the frig tonight and into the cooler tomorrow. It will then "grow up" in your home in time for Saturday's baking. :-)

Our leisurely two day trip over has just morphed into a nine hour forced march. Trying to get there by sunset tonight...So many possums, so little time....

I am so sorry. I know I had a spot that someone else could have used. Also, I was really looking forward to meeting all you nice people. There was a problem with a house I have on the market and I am sorry and sad. I hope it was wonderful!

Wonderful

Home safely with just a few drizzles. A fabulous time, as always. Loved catching up with everyone, putting some faces with forum names, and learning more tips for the cast iron obsession I have. Just booked 54 again for March. See you down the road!

GREAT to see everyone .... Alumalina just gets better and better. And the FOOD! Last night's pot luck plus all the DO output was enough to kill anyone's intent to try and eat "modestly." Hope everyone had a safe and uneventful trip home. SilverLeaf is parked until the leaves start changing colors....then, well who knows where we'll go! Barry and Glenn (Nola and Rhoda also had fun!)

We really enjoyed our first Alumalina. John and Susan put on a pretty great party! We also enjoyed getting to meet Gary and Linda. Cowboy coffee and Dutch Oven Cooking; what better way to spend a weekend? It was fantastic meeting so many nice folks and spending time in a beautiful park. We liked it so much, we have reserved site 40 for March!
