We now have posts up for
Day Four
Day Five
and
Pictures from the open house

We had a great deal of fun, and like Dan said in his post, we're going to miss both the people and the place.

We live local and took time from work to tow the airstream over to Lakeside to the rally. We did sign up late, and happily took "generator" designation but were distrought where we were parked and with no water.
Way away south from the main cluster of the rally trailers, we were nearer the earthmovers, and bulldozers that were moving dirt around behind us separated by a wire fence 60ft away. Along with the smells of new pavement being laid nearby, too, it was a not so nice environment. Friday's Open House came and went, we had trailer open and decorated, we sat under our awning smelling the fumes of the heavy equipment, listening to noises, and NOT one openhouse visitor. At that point, we decided to tow the trailer home. Saturday, commuting to the Swap Meet, we noticed the other couple of trailers that were park way south near where we were, were gone, too. One trailer was local like we were that left, and the other trailer combo with its tow as an Airstream Avenue, they left as well.. We should have commuted the 3 miles from the start, but it seemed a good idea in the beginning to camp on site. We will not go to another rally like Alumafandango if Lakeside Amusement Park is the venue.

The 3 of us that were parked in the hinterland (gen section), were interspersed amoungst un-used, un-occupied inventory from Timeless Travel Trailers. These Timeless trailers were later repositioned as demo units.
We just happened to be the southern most end trailer in the row. If we hadn't left when we did, our trailer would have been the lone rig out there south and west of where they did 'Saturdays' backing contest event.
So, this may have been a great rally for most, but we didn't think so.

New post today with pictures: "ALUMAFANDANGO ~ Lakeside Amusement Park, Colorado - 2012" on The Chinese Buffalo blog started last March by the Chinese Buffalo, known on Air Forums as C-Buffalo.

(C-Buffalo lives full-time in his new 2012 30' International Serenity and has been documenting his Airstream experiences, starting with his post "My Airstream Blog Goes Live".)

Alumafandango 2012 - Rocky Mountain PBS video

Our local Denver PBS TV station sent a crew to tape some of our goings-on and interview a few alumaholics. They finally released their video which can be seen here:

Vintage Colorado : Rocky Mountain PBS

This beautiful fun video, enhanced by the all-too-cheerful 1950s's music some of us remember only too well, tells a small part of the Airstream story. But it does so with verve, vim and vigor. Enjoy!
