This can't be that hard! (front shutter)

The 1966 Ambassador Land Yacht (28 ft) that we just acquired has a "shutter" on the tongue end. Without seeming more stupid than I feel, what is the trick to getting this thing up in the air?

I’m assuming the front window rock guard? Our 66 Lexan cover just folds upward from the bottom. Pictures would help a lot. By the way, congratulations on the Ambassador, don’t break the curved side windows, and welcome to the Forums. Good luck and ask the questions. And, there are no stupid questions.

I see the arms that are supposed to slide, but they don't. Is there a button or supposed to be button anywhere that releases this rock guard?

Hi Bubba. I used to live out on the Parker Ranch between Fredericksburg and Llano. We were there in 62-63.

The rock guards are normally held down with rubber latches (like on an old Jeep hood, but made of rubber). Once you pop those off, you should just be able to lift up the guard, and there will be thumb screws to tighten and hold it up, or like on my ‘67, holes through both pieces of the support arms that you can put a pin through to hold it up. I can’t think of any style that has any way to lock the support slides while the guard is down in travel position.
