Snaps on front of 1975 Overlander

1975 Overlander, it has snaps on the lower front, looks like some kind of stone guard/bra type thing may have been on it at one time. Do the Airstream stone guards snap in place? I'm thinking of making a bra out of that black felt backed vinyl stuff and use the existing snaps.
