rubber latch: anyone know who sells them?

As I wrote the title, it hit me (or at least I seem to remember) that Airstream makes the standard "sunglasses" version, so I suppose I could call them tomorrow.

Must admit that I am disappointed that it didn't last more than 3˝ seasons.

You can see from the photo what happened. It rotted out! But now, I don't want to travel, with only one side fastened...

For want of a nail, the shoe was lost, for want of a shoe, the horse was lost...

I believe they are 'un-obtainium'.

Aage.

That rubber part, is the latch for the rockguards.

Any dealer that sells the rockguards should have them.

We get frequent calls for that part.

Aage,

Not so. This is a common item in the truck body business. See here:

Rubber Hood Latches - Truck Equipment, Truck Bodies, Truck Accessories & Equipment Parts - Kaffenbarger Truck Equipment Ohio Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, New Carlisle, Sunnyvale Texas

Order there or try a local truck body builder. If you can't find one send me the size. I will get one for you from my friends at WILTSIE TRUCK BODIES in Aylmer.

All the best,

Sergei

I've seen these used as hold downs on other trailers and utility vehicles, so perhaps they are a part that can be had via other suppliers. Maybe even the 'Crappy Tire' RV aisle?

Not sure about the size, but you can get these from McMaster Carr if they aren't available from your dealer (scroll halfway down the link). Local farm supply stores often carry them as well.

It looks to be identical to the one on the front window protector on my 2014 FC, so finding one from Airstream should be easy.

I have towed with both of them unlatched and the window cover stayed down just fine, so you have no excuse for not going camping.

You can get an Airstream direct replacement at Out of Doors Mart. Here is the link...

Search Results : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

I spray mine with silicone once or twice a year when i spray all my other rubber parts such as slideout and window seals. Keeps them in good shape.
