Replacement Window Rock Guard

Lots of threads on this, but cut to the chance. To replace the smoked rock guard, are there any other options other than buying the entire unit at about $1,500.00.

I just need the plastic smoke glass replaced, not the frame work.

Yes, you can replace just the plexiglass if you are willing to disassemble the frame.
Remove from the trailer, remove weatherstrip, drill out rivets on closure part of frame, frame has 90 degree angle in the corners that you slide out of alum frame, remove old plexi and rubber cord, use old plexi for pattern and cut out new, reverse process.
I replaced mine with Lexan but now not sure if that was the best way to go, costs more and more impact resistant than plexi but not sure if it's as scratch resistant. I cut the Lexan with a jig saw and a fine blade.
Cost me $270 mainly because I had to ship full sheet, others have own ideas on this.

replacing rockguard plastic

My '01 Bambi has a single front window with smoked plastic rock guard, hole and cracks in lower RS corner. I removed the frame and drilled out the rivets as outlined above, and removed the old 1/8" plastic and rubber seal strip. The shape of mine is a simple rectangle with 4" radius corners, so I made a shop drawing and had a shop in a nearby city cut me some 1/4" smoked polycarbonate. I don't recall the mfg. or grade, but it was one step below the bullet-proof stuff they use on trains and buses. Put it into the clean channel with a little clear silicone adhesive (no rubber gasket with thicker material) and riveted the frame back together. Better than new!
