Question Repair cracked rock shield?

I just brought my 'new' '71 Caravel home from Pittsburgh today.
Now the fun begins. The trailer is in very good condition both
inside and out but I have big plans such as Pergo flooring to replace the..gag..shag carpeting, new upholstery etc, and will be seeking the usual fine advice from you folks as I go.
I'll start with the rock shield. It is semi-transparent and has
an open vertical crack about 10" long.
Patch and paint? I'm open to all suggestions.

'71 was the last year for the Caravels but it bears a striking resemblance to the newer Bambis, dontcha think? I've been trying to find a nice little AS like this for 2 years and I'm sure I'm going to be very happy with it.
My '95 Jimmy 4.3 Vortec did a good job of getting it home despite the foul weather and high winds.

Replace the rockguard.

The original clear rockguards all died at a very early age, like one to two years old.

They quickly developed cracks.

The problem was the material selected for the job, just would not take the sun.

Trying to repair it is a no gainer, in that it will continue to crack and crack, as the other 99 plus percent did.

Thanks Andy.

Is it doable just to replace the plastic with a more durable material or am I looking at a whole new frame and all?

The originals were OK, during their limited time. Because of the very soft, very thin frame on the originals, I don't think you can make new plastic stay in that frame.

Check the construction out on the new style that has been used for many many years, on our web site inlandrv.com

Click on parts and go to part number 34943. Click on view part to see a photo of them.

Far superior to the original.

Thanks again Andy.

That's a great looking shield. I like that 'Hollywood' style.
Geez, if I'm not careful, my AS is gonna turn into a babe magnet.
What's the part number for Viagra?

I'm starting a want list of items and will be in touch.
I've been pleased with the Inland items I've bought for other trailers so far.

While I have your attention Andy, there is a spare tire mount on the tongue. Do you have an aluminum colored cover?
And.....part # for baby moons?

Sorry.

Can't help you with the cover, or moons.
