New grommets for my rock guards

The front rock guards on my '95 Classic need a little work.

You know how they are hinged on the front edge while the trailing edge connects to the trailer with two screws that seat in grommets riveted to the body? Well my grommets have worn out. When I'm traveling down the road the screws work free of the grommets and first thing you know, I look back and see the rock guards flapping in the wind. Right now I'm relying on duct tape.

I need to drill out the pop-rivets and replace the grommets with new ones.

Does anyone know where I can buy new rock guard grommets?

A stocking parts dealer will have them.

Better Alternative to a Grommet

I think you may be referring to the segment protector connection assembly. My apologies if your problem is in fact the window glass rock protector.

Airstream abandoned the Deutz type grommet connector several years ago.

See post #16 of the thread below for an address to Out of Doors Mart for a decent replacement guide. Note that Inland RV will also carry all of the parts necessary for the new connection assembly.

Good luck on the much more robust fix.

Thanks to Inland Andy for sharing his considerable knowledge here on the Forum.
