Has anyone replaced the lower metal rock guards on their Basecamp?
We've got a 20x that my neighbor backed into. I found a replacement for it, and have it ordered. Talking to the dealer that sold it to me. The metal piece is flat and will require shaping when mounting.
I've looked for videos, and was wondering what is the best way to accomplish this?
I replaced a solar window guard on ours. It came with a curve in it but still required a lot of additional bending and profanity before it would fit. I put an additional bend on it before installing it by placing it convex side down between wood blocks and worked section by section from medial to lateral until it had more curve. I then installed the hinge side, and used a pool noodle or noodles between the shell and the solar guard to apply a further bend as needed. It was a lot but with persistence and patience I got it done. Good luck.
Btw, while you are messing with the segment protectors, you might want to modify the solar guards so that they have attachments like the segment protectors do. Those silly quarter turn locking screws strip and ours popped open at highway speed. Not a great day! There are posts on this forum how to do this if you haven’t already.
