Here's my version. Mounts directly to the truck frame independent from the ball mount yet easily removable for off season storage. Heat shield deflects hot exhaust gas off to the side.

I don't find such measures in the realm of "the slippery slope" - or an attempt to prevent any or all damages - but it presumably would prevent some dings or broken window over time

Invoking the slippery slope (an informal logical fallacy) only makes sense if it lead to more broad obsession to protect your stuff that are extreme or silly - gmw photos described a buddy that would barely ride his motorcycles because of fear of them getting wet and dirty

An AS should be used - I plan on it often - dings will happen - no biggie - some may be prevented but not all - because we cannot prevent all does not stop attempts to prevent "some"? It need not be a dichotomy.

Now - I'm off to prep a bunch of plastic to put on all furniture

I use the Protect a Tow system on my Motor Home. It does a great job and is easy to install and remove and store when not in use. It is also available for travel trailers. Its another option

Just wondering if anyone has experience with a product like EcoFlaps that reduce drag and spray yet stop rocks from hitting the AS?

That is interesting - how long have you used it and how much use does it get? Kinda seems like with turns it would stretch it damage it etc?

It connects with a bungee cord to points in my case on the coach and tow. The same would apply to a TV and trailer. There is a PVC device that also connects the open sides and runs across the tow bar or hitch. This prevents it from dragging during turns. I use it every time I hook up. Its a simple design that works and folds up in a small bag when not in use.

Adonh - standing behind TV - is there line if sight for AS to TV tires? Seems like the contraption is a bit narrow near TV?

I had thought about using these on the RT hardware....but how would one cut to a custom length and have any durability of the material. I think there would be problems with breaking and fraying for the material if cut.

I can only speak for the Motor Home version. since the wider section is connected to the Motor Home is does block path for MH tires. In looking at the gallery pictures the Trailer version has the wider section connected to the trailer and the narrow section across the length of of the rear of the TV. That would make sense due to the trailer being wider than the TV. My question would be although it would be a simple step to install the requited eye bolts to an SOB where would you install the eye bolts to the Airstream front banana wrap. On my little car that I tow with the MH I installed a heavy duty type molly bolt arrangement that has a 1/4 threaded opening in the front underside of the car on each side. I can then attach the 1/4 eye bolt when towing and remove when not. That way it is not visible. I know that is hard to picture by my explanation..

In my opinion , it's the best mud flaps on the market , my second set , I have used them for the last 3 years , I have a few jet boats and they work , worth the money Pharm

Anyone know if a clamp on Rock Tamer will work?

The Rock Tamers attach to the hitch shank and not the receiver. In other words, If you pull the hitch off, the Rock Tamers come with it.

I had Rock Tamers before and switched to Duraflaps. Get the 14 inch model. Easy installation, no drilling and they fit perfectly.
