Street Side Awning
Just installed a Zip Dee street side awning on our '65 Caravel. It runs from cap to cap. Keeps the trailer much cooler when the sun is on that side, plus adds an element of privacy when parked next to big square plastics in an RV park.
Love it.

I have been thinking about adding a street side awning to my 75 Trade Wind. It looks like the exhaust vent for the stove is in the way. Does that mean I need to put 2 awnings on that side, one one each side of the vent?

either option (1 or 2) can work, my awning (pic in post 6) is OVER the stove exhaust vent.

It was this picture of another 75 Trade Wind that has me concerned. I would rather have a single awning.

Richard, I just went out and measured our window awning, and the height of the stove vent. The bottom edge of the window awning rail is 4 1/2" above the top of the windows, and the bottom of the stove vent is 5" above the top of the windows. If you don't care that your stove vent is above you awning, it should work. You could probably mount the rail 1/2" lower, along with the mounts for the arms, to give you adequate clearance for the vent.

I need to measure mine, but the trailer is in storage this week. The last time I had the exhaust vent open, I was fixing a water leak in it two years ago...

Buy the awnings
My wife and I ordered our trailer with a full awning package. We usually camp at sites where electricity is not available so can not depend on the air conditioner to keep the trailer cool. The additional awnings do help keep the trailer noticeably cooler. We are glad we ordered them and would do so again.
Our roadside and rear awnings came with the same metal covers used on the standard curbside awning so they should not be any more of a maintenance problem.
We never leave any of the awning open if we leave camp, or at night; too much chance of damage.
