Safari vs. Flying Cloud weight differences

Looking at a used 2008 28' SE and noticed that the 28' FC is heavier, does anyone know why that would be? Example, the UBW on the FC is 424# more than the Safari and the hitch weight is 140# more on the FC too.

Just curious, does anyone know why?

Similar difference in spec's on our 2007 20' Safari SE and the later 20' FC, which is virtually identical. My guess has been the 2007 Safari spec's are for the base model without the SE package. The later FC has no base model, and is only built with all the options as standard, therefore heavier spec's.

First off, welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

As to the published weight differences, it's anybody's guess. They may have added a feature or gotten a heavier piece of wood that day. We are talking about a company here whose 27' trailer is longer than its 28' trailer. Go figure.

Also, I have found that actual real world tongue weights are generally substantially higher than those published on the spec sheets.

The published weights do not include options. The SE (Special Edition Option Package) Includes: Finished Aluminum Interior Skin, International CCD Style Windows, Panoramic Front Window, International CCD Ceiling Lighting, Window in Bathroom & Aluminum Mini-Blinds. Just the front panoramic window added 150 - 175 lbs. alone.
