Picked up new Safari today!!!
Finally today was the day we picked up our new 08 Safari 27FB. It was a great day!! The dealership{Marty's}did a nice job. Our walk around could have been a bit more detailed but it was sufficient. There were two items that had to be ordered that we'll get taken care of at a later time. The paperwork was done perfectly, no change of numbers, no surprises. The unit could've been a little cleaner but frankly nothing is clean enough for my wife, Donna so not a big deal . When we got home she got right to work cleaning like a mad woman. I'm looking forward to washing and detailing her on Sunday. By her I mean the Safari not Donna . Sorry I'm still a little giddy. I had the dealership install the equalizer and the P3 brake unit. Again no problems. Overall the dealership did a nice job and our sales consultant, Bill Andrews couldn't have been better to deal with. I am a sales consultant so I really appreciate a job well done and I can say that I give Bill the highest compliment I can when I say he's a sales pro period. When I read stories here of people having a tough time with the buying process it's disheartening because it's not hard to a great job. You just have to genuinely care. If you want a fair deal handled right then give a call to Bill @ Marty's.
Now to the part of day that I had been a bit nervous about...towing for the first time. Well it went better than expected. The Equalizer worked great. It was very windy and there was alot of truck traffic on the interstate and I felt solid the whole way. When trucks went by the feeling was alot like when in the motorhome. Marty's had set the P3 and it felt good to me but I have no basis of comparison so . I need to use it and feel it more so to be continued. Then came the real test...backing into the driveway. It went perfectly. I couldn't believe it!! I'm sure I'll have plenty of other chances to completely screw it up but not so bad for the first time. Donna and I just took our time and before I knew it, it was done. I can't believe we have to wait through the winter to get out and use this work of art . It's going to be a long winter but it'll be filled with planning. I'll get some pics up in a little while. I need my son to help me

Congrats Brian & Donna!
You are going to love the 27FB layout!
Wasn't it a great feeling backing into the driveway perfectly the first time? We did the same thing after we picked up our trailer.....second, third and fourth time is another story......
Have fun cleaning her!

Congratualtions, Donna and Brian...the love-affair has officially begun! Too bad you have to wait so long to use your new toy, but like you say, you can plan a great trip this winter so you can hit hte road as soon as the ice thaws...
Enjoy yourselves and the new rig...

Wait til Spring? Why?
NOOOOOOOO!!!!! Dry camp, but CAMP. It's still fall. You've got at least two or three more good weekends. Take off the Friday after Thanksgiving and the Wednesday before---- there's a 5 day window!
Or go south. You could go to the Airstream campground in New Jersey - park and go to Atlantic city, or Ocean City Md, or Virginia Beach, VA. It was 80 here today (it's going to get cold tomorrow, but I lie to emphasize that camping is NOT just a high summer activity.)
Stay at lower altitudes and go south and you can definitely camp until December.
CONGRATS on your 27FB... it's a great layout.

it isn't your driveway, it's the sahara!
i'm saving my official kudos...
till the photos...
hey, load her up (including water/food/clothes) and hitch'er up...
take a loop 'round the hood.
back in to that paved rv slot you know so well....
block the tires and drop the anchor (tongue jack)
oh, what's this? an extension cord with a 30 amp adapter
why lets plug in!
now go inside the trailer...those folks in the house must be away for the weekend.
yea baby we is camping! sahara, the tundra, the outer bank?
or a swank room at the hilton...
it don't matter in the bubble!
eat, tv, a bit of fizz, sleep and snuggle, awake and coffee, bath and breakfast...
don't forget the cell phone 2 order food delivered to the tube...
'streaming at it's finest!
cheers

Congratulations Brian and Donna. I backed into the designated space perfectly the first time, but when we found it wasn't level I put out leveling things and getting lined up with those took an hour. So the second time is different, especially when you can't see those little yellow blocks and your wife and you are learning to communicate. We made it hard to learn. Of course, we have acres to park on and that makes it easier.
Take the kids on the weekend (if the weather is dry) and try it out, or stash them with relatives. How could you stand not trying things out? We can't.

Very nice set up Donna and Brian. Nice Air'hanger as well. Congratulations.
There is a lot to be said for driveway/back yard camping for a bit to get all the systems figured out on the trailer. It's also great fun to have the friends and neighbors show up with bottles of congratulatory beverages of whatever it is you enjoy, and to partake of them in the new rig.
We have almost always tried our new trailers out in the yard first before ever hitting the road. And it's not uncommon to head out there with a mug of tea for some quiet time when someone has a vacuum going or a movie on that's a tad too loud . A great hide out for weekend afternoon snoozes too.
