New Safari purchased!!!
Well we did it!
We completed the purchase on a 2008 20' Safari SE last night, our first Airstream!. I'm planning on taking delivery near the end of the first week in July. I'll post pics once I've got it home.
Thanks to everyone on the forum for the advice leading up to the purchase!

Mike, Congrats on your purchase. You'll love it. You are obviously already familiar with the forum, so don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have about your new Safari, or rving in general. Send pics when you can.

Wooo Hoooo!
Did you sleep last night? Warning it will get worse. By the night before you take delivery you'll have ants in your pants, butterflies in your stomach and bats in your belfrey. Do you call a psychiatrist or an exterminator?
Are you planning on camping on the dealer's lot and trying everything out? DO SO if at all possible, or do so at a nearby campground, then go back the next day.
Congratulations! Paula

Congratulations!
Make sure your dealer covers EVERYTHING about your new baby when you do your walk-through. If you have access to a video-camera, you should tape this session for later viewing and reference.
Don't be afraid to have them fix ANYTHING that isn't perfect when you take delivery.
And please don't be bashful about asking questions (here or from your dealer), no matter how silly they may seem to you - better to ask than to be stranded somewhere without power or propane or a flat tire!
Post pics!!!

Congratulations Mike. I know you will be very happy with it. Give it a thorough checkout, and have fun! There are several ckecklists for delivery on the forum. I posted mine in my thread on the 2007 Safari SE forum. Good luck with your training exercise.

Congratulations,
We took delivery on our 20' 2008 Safari SE on May 2. We love it. We have been on two week long shake down trips. There are a few bugs that need fixing but we are confident they will be taken care of. The dealer is working with us to work out the details with Airstream.

Mike, What an exciting time!
The forums were great support for us while we were in your same waiting mode just six months ago. Every time we asked about something--no matter how foolish--we got polite, knowlegable and encouraging responses. It's an amazing place! Don't hesitate to ask any questions. Someone out there in virtual aluminum land will come to your aid.
Enjoy the anticipation, and please post your coming-home photos. Also be sure that every single system has been tested before you drive away from the dealership.
You chose a beautiful rig, and you can't believe how much fun you're in for.
Happy trails,
Janet

We've had our 20' 2007 for a couple of months and love it. It has a great floorplan and just the right amount of room. Enjoy it!

Its home!
Well, we took delivery of our AS today!
It turned out to be a rather long day for us with the pre delivery inspection, hitch and brake controller installation and then a stop on the way home to practice backing up before I tried it in my driveway.
We did notice a couple of minor issues that the dealer is taking care of now, cosmetic only.
I'll try and get some photos of it up soon. We plan on taking it out for a shakeout later in the week to a local camp ground.
I hope I remember how to get everything running again....everything seemed too easy when you're sitting there in the dealership and he was showing me! I'm sure I've already forgotten!

Just take your owners bag stuffed with the manuals and you will be just fine. Of course, you can always camp where there is WiFi and have a bunch of us at your disposal should you need some advice. But I think it is a lot more fun for the other campers to have you figure it out yourself.
Just keep a sense of humor and have fun no matter what happens.
You will remember the first trip forever..take lots of pictures for us.

Congratulations, and have fun with your new baby. Best of luck on your shakedown cruise. Remember we're out here for assistance. Remember also that SOB's have the same or very similar mechanical systems as your Airstream. Other campers will usually be more than happy to help you.

Don't worry about a thing. Sure there will be some gaffs but so what we all had them.
Use the manuels and your common sense and you'll not only survive but have some fun stories to tell.
Timemachine is right though. Keep your sense of humor.
