Hi all,
I had an idea to install some mood lighting. I suggested a lava lamp and
was shouted down by the wife... (something about me being lost in the 70's).
So here is my installation. I got the following items from Lewster for about $90.
- ILMDL-WW-12LED warm white rope LED 12 v (quan 12 feet)
- ILMDL-CONKIT-6, Connector Kit for 3/8" Incandescent or DC-Powered LED Rope Light (Connector, & 6' Cord) (quan 2)
- ILMDL-END, End Cap (quan 2)
- ILMDL-TRACK3 clear mounting track 3' (quan 4)
Attached is the result. I put them in the back and front of the trailer above the cabinets. Fine effect! especially in early morning. Good lighting for romantic candle light dinners!
Note the switch went in fine by taking out the panel in the rear and taking out the speaker in the front. Switch is a dpdt from Radio Shack. 1/2 inch hole. The closeup of the LED install is poor, but you can see I had to put
a piece of trim in front of the LED strip to prevent seeing the LED's from the trailer interior. Also, the channel was critical to keep the strip in place.
Make sure and test the rope light before installing. You have to insert a couple of prongs into the light from a fitting, and it is easy to miss them.
Also, if it doesn't work, reverse the wires. LED's only work with one polarity.
The "warm white" light is a little yellow, but it matches the wood on the
cabinets very well. Lava lamp would be best, but the reflection of these lights on the roof is outstanding!
