2008 Safari SE 27FB Front Storage Compartment

My unit is stored a pretty good distance from me...

We would like to cut out a "floor liner" for the front storage compartment. I meant to carefully measure last time I was in it, but didn't

Anyone have any idea what the width and depth is? If i remember correctly, it is pretty much a rectangle. Is that correct?

Thanks!

We have the same unit. Are you you're talking about the compartment that you can access from the outside, behind the propane tanks? Ours has a plastic cover over the carpeting there.
When I get home from my business trip, I'll try to remember to measure the area and post the dimensions. (getting old means the memory is quickly going the way of the dodo bird = extinct)

Yes - The part that i would like to make a liner for is just the section that is accessible from the outside door.

Thank you SO much! That really helps. I really wanted to get this little project completed this week and was pretty mad at myself for not getting the measurements when I was with the trailer last week.

I really appreciate it.

Way to go Gene! I was going to go out a measure mine, but here beat me too it! Let me know how it goes. I may do the same thing. That compartment really needs a non-skid surface to keep everything in place while underway.

FWIW, the rear cargo liner for a 2007 Durango fits the space in the 27FB pretty well and does have a lip around it to catch any dirt. I think it was about $50 at the Dodge dealer for the one that goes behind the 3rd row of seats.

You may also want to look at WeatherTech online. I've got floormats and cargo compartment inserts for the truck and Odyssey. They work great.

FYI:

I contacted WeatherTech and spoke to a very nice customer service person. I gave her the dimensions you quoted and she did a bit of research. She came back with a cargo liner that is rectangular and measures 26x48 (close but not exact). It's part #40017.
She explained that very few are true rectangles because they're designed to fit around wheel wells etc.

I think about ordering one.

Floor liner for front storage box

For those that are interested -

I had a floor liner from the rear of a 2004 Acura MDX in the garage that was left over after I sold the car. I decided to "re-purpose" it and make a floor liner to put inside the front storage compartment.

The factory liner was made to fit the inside dimensions of the rear of the MDX with all the nooks and crannies built in to fit around the wheel wells and the tie down points. I found that the front most portion was 48" wide and it was about 25" before it started flaring out behind where the wheel wells were.

I trimmed it with a utility knife to fit a 30" deep and 48" wide rectangle. When installed, the slight additional depth allowed the front edge to "roll" up slightly to a point just under the door gasket.

Overall, it fits very well. While it won't hold a gallon of water like it originally would, it will still hold a small spill or leak around the door to keep the carpet from getting saturated.

Unfortunately - I didn't have my camera with me this weekend . I will try and get a picture later though.

Thanks to all that posted suggestions and measurements.
