Wheel and Hub Balancing plus Aluminum Wheels

In an earlier discussion about the need to balance the tires, wheels, and hubs as a unit, it was pointed out that the equipment for so doing is not commonly available. One of the participants volunteered to try and prepare a list of dealers across the U.S. who have this equipment. Was this ever accomplished? Can anyone else offer an alternative? Additionally, what is the caution to be observed with respect to re-mounting the cast aluminum wheels. Apparently they can be easily damaged if it's not done correctly?

Cracker,
Aluminum wheels don't damage that easily. I always make sure to torque the wheels to 100ft/lbs. Also, clean the area where the wheel touches the hub, to make sure the wheel is flat against the hub. Corrosion and dirt can accumulate, causing uneven contact between the hub and wheel.
Depending on the design, alloys usually are much lighter than steel wheels, and therefore lessen the balance problem to a certain extend.
I can not help you with your other questions.
