vintage baby moons vs new wheels

Does anyone know whether baby moons (circa mid 60's) will fit on a modern wheel? I will need to replace the split rims on my Safari and there's a nice set old baby moons on Ebay right now that match my original ones (which are not in the best shape). I'm thinking about bidding, but not if they can't be used...
I did a quick check of the archives but didn't find this specific question addressed...Thanks, Diane

I called Southwest Wheel in Dallas, regarding replacement wheels for my 1954 Liner, now split rims, they told me that you could put baby moons on the new wheels, actually takeoffs from new Ford 1/2 ton pickups (5 X 5-1/2). The baby moons would probably be new and not the vintage ones on Ebay. You will probably need to find wheels with clips to use the vintage hub caps and not the new non clip wheels.

Diane,
To the best of my knowledge, the baby moons that Airstream has used will only fit on certain rims, specifically those with metal clips on the inside of the hub face. I have not yet found wheels like these available new.
I have a set of four original Airstream wheels, 15x6, 6-lug pattern, with both old baby moons, and also brand new ones. PMme if you're interested.
