Valve stem

I had a tire go flat on me due what seems to be a bad valve stem. Went to a local tire shop and they removed the tire to find a tube inside the tire (which was split). They told me that the tire could be used without the tube, however they didn't carry a valve stem large enough for the rim. Wend to another tire shop and was told the same thing...

Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Craig

If you have the Alumimum rims you may need to get a bolt in valve stem. It is steel, usally chromed. The base is flanged with a nice thick washer. There is a jam nut that threads on from the outside. Most of the custom rim shops or heavy duty truck tire shops will have them. I have even found them at Autozone.
