I agree with the "too old to wrestle with it" comment. It costs a good deal of money to check and grease regular bearings every 2 years. I think the never lube would be money ahead even if one fails eventually. And you can limp to a repair place with 3 wheels on the ground. I have no interest in running Centrimatic balancers.

My wife called Camping World because she thinks I am too old to grease bearings. She hung up when they would not give her a price for checking and greasing the bearings without looking up the cost of all the brakes including drums first.

I would not touch Camping World! All they think is business, not customer relations. They do NOT know how to fix anything in Airstream. They would probably damage your AS underneath when jacking up.

If your not doing it yourself then go to a good private mechanic shop where they will be able to perform this task.

When I didn't want to do the bearings myself, I took the trailer to a suspension shop. They did fine.

We have bearings on our motor vehicles that last a very long time. Good quality probably helps. When we bought our Airstream, I was surprised the bearings had to be greased frequently, though experience told me not nearly as often as recommended. I hadn't greased bearings in decades, so I had to relearn. Now I have the easy lub version on the Nash. Pretty simple and I guess the seals are better because forcing grease through the system stresses the seals.

I saw a post on here recently that said NevrLube bearings were being discontinued by Dexter. I have not tried to verify that.

Two years ago I ordered my new axles with EZlube. They are simple to lube (jack wheel off the ground, pump grease in the fitting slowly while rotating the wheel. When you see clean grease come out you are done). As an added advantage, they use the same bearings and seals as the conventional bearings if you have to replace them, and you can always disassemble them, clean and lube like conventional bearings.

And I think in that same post Overlander63 Terry said they are on current new units from factory.

Folks on passenger cars the old school classic two cups two cones and one seal system was phased out with the introduction of front wheel drive. Decades ago. Replacement was the cartridge bearing design, Nev-R-Lube is in that design family.

FWIW see post 36 from Terry about current use of Mev-R-Lube.
