timken wheel bearing and races prices UP!!

I had put some timken wheel bearings #25580 #LM67048 plus the races #25520 and #LM67010 for a 2005 classics model in the shopping cart.

They other day when i was looking at something in the shopping cart on amazon and noticed an detail that stated the price of the bearings had increased by like 8 bucks or more.

Anyone else see this..??

Seems the price of the US made bearing are starting to raise due to production heading off shore in 2017 I was reading..

might be time to stock up on the US made timkens before they are GONE..

cost now for set of 4,,, 135 bucks..

what is number for double grease seals.. the airstream factory shows 680370-100,, found them at outofdoorsmart odmrv.com 6.75 each. SCORE..

Buy your bearings and seals from an auto supply house like Rockauto.

You have to know your products when dealing with Amazon. They wanted $6.00 for a sim card for my phone. They are free at Verizon.

As Howie said, you just have to know where to buy them. An entire set for my trailer locally is around $50. Stay away from the dealers.

Knowing a specific part made by a manufacturer and sold through many sources means there is competition. That competition usually means some source may be low today. Just not so much the next day.

Many online sellers are just drop shippers who do not have the part but order it and have it shipped directly to you. Some can buy wholesale and sell retail and some are buying at retail with and marking it up to sell to you. I bought a Camco 30A male plug on eBay at what seemed to be a good price since it was lower than Walmarts online price with shipping and it came in an Amazon box. I looked on Amazon and it was $2 less with free prime shipping. The eBay seller was a drop shipper who sent it to me as a "gift". It pays to shop around.

I follow this forum religiously for the wealth of information I find here. Thanks to everybody for helping to educate a relative "newby".

My first fall project on my '84 Excella 34 footer is to pull off the wheels, one axle at a time, and replace tires, brakes and bearings with races and possibly change out the shocks. I'd like to have the parts on hand when I start so what I'm hoping to find is the part numbers for brake parts and bearings and races so I can order them. If anyone has the part numbers handy I'd sure appreciate getting them.

As far as I can tell, everything underneath is completely original. The torsion arms all have a good positive angle and the trailer tows like a dream. I would bet that since the old tires on it were manufactured in 1994, they were probably the second set installed. The tread on them looks like brand new tires. I think this trailer has very low milage on it.

Shocks you will have to get from an Airstream dealer as the only application is Air Stream. No one else will carry those.

There isn't a consumer parts manual with numbers. However the bearings, seals and brake parts are for the most part off the shelf stuff. So obtaining trailer parts locally can be done at a trailer store like McD. http://www.mcdtrailers.com/ Unless someone has messed up, you should not need bearings & races. Some seals may be brake friction parts. The rest is clean, lube and adjust as needed.

Even fast moving auto parts stores (NAPA) may carry seals and bearings.

Or going online after you know what you have can save you a few dollars if you can wait a few days.

I buy and sell a lot of used auto parts from the late 1960s to early 1970s. Ebay is a big player for that. However Amazon and several others are good too.

Most of the Timken bearings are made in China now.The bearings on Amazon are made in the USA.The only way to tell is look at the print on the bearing.
I personally will not run Chinese Timkens or any Chinese bearings on our Airstream to save $100 or so.

I am retired but used to work in the Industrial Power Transmission business and can tell you that buying Timken Bearings at one of these places will save you money and you are likely to get US made bearings. Timken manufactures off shore as well but most PT houses stay away from foreign markets.

This was true 5-10 years ago But not true anymore.Most stock Chinese parts as there is more markup.
