That's why I'm looking for solid rims!!

Yup - bad news.

Earlier this year we bought a 1964 Overlander that had ancient split rims. After towing slooooowly for way too many miles to reach a tire store, we were interested to see the tire guys doing rock, paper, scissors to see who had to work on the trailer. They should have had hazard pay, I guess. Even though we bought new wheels and tires they still disassembled the old rims and tires before stacking them in the recycle piles.
