Lug Bolt Size for '78 Sovereign

Hello Gang:

I am would like to know what the lug bolt size is for my A/S. Removing and replacing the wheels is a royal pain in the . . .

I want to get one or two studs of the correct thread pitch so I can temporarily install it by hand on the brake drum to allow the wheel to hang without my having to balance the wheel, align the bolt holes and insert the lug bolt. Once the wheel is hanging it will be easier to install the remaining lug bolts. Once that's completed I'll remove the stud and put on the remaining bolt. This should make for easier maintenance of the bearings and brakes and, if necessary, easier to change the tire when on the road.

Any help will be appreciated.

I think but am not positive that it's the same as GM 4wd 70-85 or so.

The one I thing you would need is rear axle wheel stud from something like a 1980 blazer of K10 truc. It's a 7/16 diameter. You don't want a front axle from those years becue the shank is thicker to acomidate the Disc brake.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

I don't actually want a wheel stud, simply a properly threaded stud so I can pre-mount the wheel on the drum. Saves holding up the wheel manually while trying to align the holes and insert the first lug bolt.

GM makes sense as the hole spacing is the same a the GM 6 bolt pattern.
