While I always thought the Andersen clever and effective in some applications, after the vandalism episode, I wouldn't buy one or recommend one

Get the Reese Centerline dual cam sway control through your friend. When you can swing the cost, get a PPP hitch.
Do not buy an Equal-i-zer. It is too stiff for the Airstream.
Travel safe and show your smile. Pat

Our hitch, a PPP design...Hensley Arrow purchased in 2007. No sway at all.
I can't explain it to you, but if you come here I'll let you drive it.
The rating for your WD bars depends on how much weight you need to move. You want as light a bar that will move the needed weight.
We have a 1200lb TW and need to move 840Lbs, I use 1000lb bars.

I just had to buy a new WD hitch and went Equalizer again. Simple and effective. Every dollar is a vote and I just couldn’t support the entitled mindset that was behind the Anderson vandalism. Really fed up beyond words with people that act, drive and behave that way. So, Equalizer got the order.

for best performance and safety, keep the distance from the edge of the TV bumper to the ball as short as possible
give Andy Thompson a call at CANAM RV he is an expert on hitches.
watch some of his videos as he explain about pivot point and why the ball distance needs to be kept short

To all those who have replied, thank you. It’s been fun getting a little insight into the new world we’ve jumped into with both feet. 2019 shall be a fun year exploring the high country and red rock areas of Utah, in comfort. Thanks again

snip...<><>"They sell for a lot of money because they do provide a bit more sway suppression."
I also resemble that remark....they "a bit more" to elimination.
That was the reason for my come drive offer.
snip...."Needs to be kept short"... only if you are not projecting the pivot point. 👍
Hook-up...you just need an IQ a little higher than the hitch. 😂😳😂

No.
I suppose it's possible the spring clip fell out and the pin worked it's way out...or sheered off.
I'm surprised the bar falling on the road didn't make a racket, or do damage.
I'd bet if one walked around at a rally, you'd find more Equalizer hitches than any other brand, with Reese coming in second.
I just put 1400 miles on mine and never once felt a semi make the trailer wiggle.

Ah, good point. I work at Yellowstone all summer. One of the things I did on a weekly basis was patrol the Bridge Bay campground (largest in the NPS with over 460 sites). So, 16 trips, over 400 spaces, that's lots of RV's. I saw precisely one Hensley and zero Pro-Prides. Most bumper pulls have a Reese or a Reese clone. Saw a few Dual Cams, no Andersons.
Bumper pulls predominate followed by Class C's then B's and about an even number of 5ers and large MHs. Of course, lots of young families in tents.

I'm not experienced with the other options, but have been extremely happy with our ProPride. If we changed trailers, we'd stick with that hitch.
