Spray Lithium Grease (Wal-Mart)

Hello,

I have been using a spray lithium grease on my Equal-i-zer hitch and I have had great results. I can spray a light coat on the wear surfaces and thin coat really seems to work well and last a good while. I also use it on the hitch ball.

I have been buying the Supertech brand from Wal-Mart. Is anyone else using this grease?

If you are treating the wear surfaces that are intended to have friction and dampen the sway energy you are defeating the purpose of the anti sway functon of the hitch and may be causing yourself a safety problem. Follow the directions from Equalizer you got with the hitch.

As it turns out Equal-i-zer says to grease those surfaces. Doesn't hamper the sway control at all just quiets the squeeks.

I have also used the white lithium grease and tried paraffin. The paraffin keeps stuff cleaner but also wears off fast. Need to reaply at every hookup. I might try silicone next summer. Plenty of clean rags to wipe stuff down for now.

I use spray silicone on my Equal-i-zer on the "rub" surfaces of my spring arms only and I have to re-apply at every hook-up. It isn't too much of a hassle, but you will have the dirt issue to deal with. Just don't wear your Sunday best pants when hitching and unhitching.
