Using Shocker 12K Max Black Air Hitch w 30' Globetrotter Superduty dually
Use and highly recommend the Shocker Hitch 12K Max Black combo ball hitch, without any equalization systems needed for 1-ton diesel dually trucks. Uses an airbag to absorb road jolts thereby smoothing tow connection with trailer, and trailer's ride.
In our application, our Shocker Hitch both smooths the trailer's ride (Globetrotter 30RB) and the connection and ride in large tow-anything dually truck. That is to say the trailer rides noticeably smoother, and contents aren't "redistributed" when on rough roads. We generally tow at 65 mph on Interstates/freeways for safety, and fuel consumption considerations.
Many, many threads on this forum recommend weight equalizer/stabilizer systems for the Airstream trailers, this is generally a good idea with smaller lighter, less powerful tow vehicles - however with large diesel dually trucks the Airstreams, including the largest models, tow fine without these systems because large diesel dually trucks have a huge towing safety margin in both weight and braking capacity. The Shocker Hitch elegantly smooths both the trailer's ride, and its connection with tow vehicle hitch absent any additional tow systems/hardware.
