Securing a Hensley Hitch

Hello All,

How well can a Hensley Hitch be secured to prevent theft since it is not removed while in storage?

How do you find is the best way to secure it?

I sometimes use a python cable lock through the opening where the drop bar enters. It would be nice if Hensley offered stuff like locks, covers etc. I called Hensley once and asked them about locking the hitch to the trailer, I was told just to lock it to the trailer coupler, that was the security for a 3 grand hitch so I added the python lock which can be purchased at any home depot.

I use a coupler lock to keep the tongue secured on the ball. I then leave the stinger (with Enkay Rock Tamer attached) to the opening of the Hensley, pull the pins securing the cams and use a padlock on either side to prevent the stinger from being removed. I then run the Class III/IV receiver hitch lock through the hole in the stinger. I plan on buying a Reese 2" receiver tube, welding the end away from the trailer shut, plugging the pin holes temporarily and dipping the receiver tube in a bright color liquid rubber dip. I can then slide this tube over the stinger which will keep the grease from getting on anyone's clothing, make it more visible so people don't knock their shins on it and make it harder to cut the lock. I'll post pictures when I get all this done. I'll leave the flaps of the RockTamer on while parked in my back yard but will probably pull them and the rods they mount on if I leave it at the hunting site.

I do the exact thing even with the Rock Tamers attached. I got the master lock set coupler lock/receiver lock combo from Wally world.
