Reese U-Bolt Torque?

I have added a third u-bolt to my old-style Reese cam arms. I think I remember the torque spec on the u-bolts is 75 ft-lbs. Does anyone know for sure the torque spec?

Thank you in advance.

I found the torque spec in a Reese document from a general web search. The torque spec is 60 ft-lbs.

The easiest method that I am aware of is to source them from any shop selling Reese hitch products. Most Vintage Airstreams need what is sold as U-bolts for 4" and 5" frames . . . these usually need to be ordered as I have yet to find a dealer other than one who does business with Vintage Airstream owners that actually stocks anything other than the larger U-bolts that are utilized on Brand-X as well as late model Airstreams. I keep an extra set of 4 in my parts kit as I generally replace them every time that I repaint the hitch on either of my coaches.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin

P.S.: This link has the U-bolts that I utilize with my Vintage Airstream and Argosy . . . Link.

Properly stressed Reese torsion bars, used with the dual cam sway control, will cause the U-bolts to stretch in time.

The solution is easy.

Adding a third u-bolt will correct any further stretching of the u-bolts.

When the u-bolts stretch, the sway control will be loose leading to inadequate sway control.

That has been an issue for over 40 years, to my knowledge.
