I understand and thanks.

Based on your recommendation, I watched a few YouTube videos on weighing my trailer on a CAT Scale; I think I can handle that.

However, what are the weights going to tell me? What should the weights be? What should I be looking for?

I know that going to weight scales is the “best” thing to do. But I don’t have cat scales readily available. And frankly every time you load it the weight will probably change somewhat, but no by much. I go by the measurements. I measure the front wheel well and back wheel well and I want them to be pretty close to the same measurement. Once you do it you get a pretty good handle on where those bars should be placed. Using this approach I have found my handling to be excellent. There was one time I did lower the jacks by a 1/2 inch to handle better. Don’t know if going to a scale would really tell me much more.

I did get a phone app called Haul Gauge. It’s not as accurate as a scale (which I don’t have access to) but it’s pretty close. And it pretty much told me what I needed to know which was the hitch weight which gives me an idea of my payload and rear axle weight.

As they say, “Good enough.”

Did you get the hitch installed? I live in Waxahachie and have had a ProPride over 5 years. Installed a couple of other trailers as well.

Propride has a YouTube channel and they just added a number of installation videos a few weeks ago.

Need ProPride Help

Hooray! We have success! My neighbor and I got the hitch installed yesterday. We both agreed that we couldn’t have done it without GFML’s YouTube video. Thank you all who contributed to this stream.Click image for larger version

Great. And now you know a little bit more how that hitch works. Enjoy the ride. You will not regret having that hitch. Makes towing so much nicer.

I measured the hitch receiver height on my truck to be 26 inches... not precise, and the ground isn't quite level, I guess I should subtract an inch for when it's loaded... call it say 24 inches.

The trailer ball height I have read is 17 & 3/4 inches?

I am studying the ProPride installation guide. The hitch box height would then be 12 & 1/4 inches, right? So the difference is 24 - 12 & 1/4 = 11 3/4 inches... considerably more than the max configuration on page 12.

Have I got something scrambled, or is the ProPride just not going to work?
Why..that is over kill ..Reese duel cam. 13 31’ Classic..17 ram 2500 4x4. 6.7
