Lost the snap up lever to my Equal-i-zer hitch

Not a good idea to set this black wrench on the black bumper and drive off especially after you have told your wife that you are going to spray it a bright color so this doesn't happen.

Will a Wonder bar (crowbar) work just as well or do I just part with $20.95 plus shipping for a new one and just add this to my list of RV adventures.

You can go to your friendly hardware store, and get a piece of steel pipe about 2 feet long. It's cheaper, and if you drive away and leave it again, you aren't out a lot of money. Just get a piece of pipe with a large enough diameter to fit the lug on the lift point.

I never use mine! Just lift the front of the trailer with the jack enough so that the weight distribution bars are easily placed on the "L" brackets.

We are changing truck and trailer, to a 25' Airstream and HD2500 Chevy. We are considering Equal-i-zer hitch instead of Reese dual cam. How has it been for you?

I also lift the trailer to do it by hand.Fortunantly I have air suspension on my vehicle so I can do it that way also.I rarely use the wrench but have used it a few times.

Hi, the other day while at a friends house, He showed me his beat up, bent up, scarred up spring bar tool. I asked him "what the heck did you do to that tool?" He told me that his son and him hooked up a piece of pipe to the handle to get enough leverage to install the spring bars on his [same as mine] Equal-i-zer brand hitch. Then I proceeded to tell him that I don't even use that tool on mine. Now, I can't even mention how and what he said to me, in total disbelief, that "I don't use that tool."
It took some time for my neighbor to calm down long enough for me to show him on his trailer to let the tongue jack do all the work. Now he thinks I'm Einstein or something.
Bottom line, put that twenty something dollars in your gas tank; You don't need that tool as you can read it right here on this forum.

Yep I used that bar for about two trips and said to my self, "Jack,just crank that jack down about two more inches and the bars will slide on without any help. Doh! "

I really like the Equal-i-Zer hitch and I do crank the jack all the way up( while it's sitting on a tongue jack stand) ,but you still need a little lift on the bars sometimes as my 3/4 ton truck sits fairly high. Being the true farmer I am,a $3 Chinese crow bar at the local farm store has solved the problem. It will also come in handy for whatever at the farm. You never know when you might run into a problem that wire and pliers won't fix.

63air, If you are having to use a crow bar to put the spring bars into place, then the spring bar tension may be too high. Perhaps either:

- The hitch head angle is set too large. Adjust with the washers.
- You said the truck sits high... is is possible the hitch ball height is too high? You may need to lower the hitch on the drop bar, or purchase a different drop bar.

That's how I was told to do it by the dealer when I took the delivery. The only side note is the I have an electric tongue jack. Without that, doing it this way could give you an arm cramp.
