Hitch purchase advice needed
Hi all. This is my first post after reading the forum for years and learning a lot from all. Well I purchased my tow vehicle earlier this year and plan on purchasing a 25FB withing the next month.
I had a basic question. I was going to purchase a ProPride 3P weight distribution hitch realizing the spec tongue weight is 837# and thought the 1000# rated hitch would be good. Recently have read a few threads about tongue weight could be close to 1000# and wanted to ask if purchasing the 1000# rated hitch is appropriate.
Thanks again.

I have a 25' & use 1000lb bars on my Equalizer WD hitch & they are more than adequate.

Welcome Aboard!! 👍
Using the Hensley Arrow. 👍
I also use 1000lb bars on our Classic...1200lb loaded TW, un-hitched.
Started with 1400lb, ride ended up being too stiff, upgraded the receiver and dropped to 1000lb.

For a Pro Pride hitch; I would contact Shawn at PP. Save a lot of confusion and other "sales pitches".

On the 3P site it gives recommendations based upon tongue weight. There is some over lap. Mine is 900#’s and Sean recommended the 1400lb bars. I’d ask Sean. He’ll respond quickly.

Agree - call Sean.
My story (different than yours) - Sean told me to get the 1400# bars (27FB with some 800# tongue weight in the printed material - actually 980# on the scales). I misunderstood my AS manual and assumed I should go with the 1000# bars. Eventually swapped out to 1400 instead. You can dial in however much you need. But call Sean, he’ll know what’s best. Good luck.

The stock 837 pound 25FB literature tongue weight exists only on the slick add pages. The real world is the tongue weight can be significantly over 1,000 pounds.
In fact ours was about 1,150 pounds (new 2013 25Fb International Serenity) when leaving the dealers lot with no personal stuff aboard. So we had the 1,200 pound bars on our Hensley Arrow (first generation Hensley designed hitch, the ProPride is the second generation Jim Hensley design).
We use the 1,400 pound bars on our Classic where the tongue weight is now back to 1,175 pounds from 1,350 pounds when we removed the four Lifeline AGM batteries in front of the coach at 96 pounds each. They were replaced with one 168 pound lithium battery under the front sofa. Both sets of batteries were capable to 600 amp hours at 12Vdc, but one could only use less than 50% of of that capacity with the AGM batteries whereas the lithium will allow 90% use of the power.

My 2018 Serenity 28 has a loaded tongue weight of 961 lbs. I use 1000 lb bars and 6 washers on a Fastway E2 hitch.

Hitch purchase advice needed
I haul a 2016 25-ft AS FC with an F-150. Although I currently still have a Blue Ox hitch, I enquired to Sean at Propride about a 3P hitch. He responded very quickly indicating, among other things, that the correct weight bars for my rig with a 3P hitch would be the 1400#:
" The proper mode for the 25 and the F150 is the 3P-1400. An Airstream also needs an Extension Kit to extend the electric, chains and break-away cable." Sean

Another vote for the Equalizer.
I have the 1000/10,000 on a Airstream 26U.
It takes a little fiddling to get the balance of adjustments right, but it tows great.

Don't forget to add the weight of the hitch assembly to your tongue weigh before you select you distribution bar's capacity. It is all tongue weight and must be distributed.

By all means, go with informed recommendations but confirm with CAT weights.
We also were recommended 1400# and switched to 1000#, with the needed weight moved and a much smoother ride.
POI...1200# un-hitched TW. 2500, 8.1 'Burb, Reese V, HaHa. 👍
