Handle for ProPride Stinger

Some time ago, on some forum, I responded that I had built a handle for my ProPride stinger. Someone asked for pictures. Was it here? Was it you? If so please reply or PM me, I finally got a picture taken.

Here's my 2˘. I think it was a 5/8" threaded rod inside whatever tubing I could find. Photo also shows the stinger "caddy" made from some 2 x 4 to keep it manageable when not towing.

I recently described my solution for a Hensley stinger in this post.

I use a battery carrier from an auto parts store.

When I promised the picture I was responding to a post about using a battery carrier. I used one for my Equalizer and transferred it to my ProPride. It was a rubber strap with sheet metal ends that connected to pinch clamps on the battery posts. I took off the pinch clamps and bolted it to the hitches. After a while I noticed the sheet metal parts tearing. I'm glad I spotted that before it broke while I was carrying the hitch.

Here's a picture of my all metal version. I recently saw one made where the handle was a long bolt through a piece of PVC pipe. I like that better than mine, but I had already used the aluminum rod I had laying around.

I always check the metal clips that are connected to the stinger and always carry it so it is never over my feet. I just replaced it this year for $6.00

Hey Orange,
I'm just getting back to post. Took delivery of our rig a couple weeks ago. Looking at your pictures, does using that hole for the handle interfere with the pivot of the stinger?

Our dealer installed our P3 prior to delivery of our Globetrotter and the stinger is configured in the highest position like yours.

No problem for 2 reason. 1) Once everything is torqued down on the hitch bar there is nothing pivoting. 2) I used a nylon lock nut on the bolt for the handle so it is not tight and can pivot.

It has worked fine for me and makes moving and lifting onto the truck much easier. My only concern is the upper hitch bar bolt might abraid the handle fabric over time. For that reason I may re-do it with a longer bolt and more washers to get the handle eyelets out past the bolt heads.

Serves dual purpose as a carrying handle and a place to run the umbilical cord when traveling

Finally found an solution!

Great solutions posted earlier here. I tried a few but I barely have 2 inches of clearance for the tailgate to clear the PP Stinger.

However, I got these "BEADEN Ergonomic Pull up Handles Neutral Grip D Handle Cable Attachment Lifting Workout Handles Exercise Grips" https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLLPT7K9/.

Just loop the straps into one of the holes and you are good to go!

I ordered this and the bolt is bigger than the eye loops. How did you get the bolt to fit through the grommets?

I ordered this and the bolt does not fit through the grometts. How did you attach it to the hitch?

Suggest using a smaller diameter bolt that fits through the grommets and hitch, then a couple fender washers to keep the bolt neatly in place. If it rattles in the holes in the hitch it matters not.

Sort of related, the Lay's brand Stax potato chip containers make a great cover for the singer. Being plastic, they hold up well and are the perfect size to slip on. If you put any lube on the stinger, it will cover it up.
