Grand Cherokee L

Anyone have a new 2021 Grand Cherokee L ? I need to install a brake controller quickly. I can’t find a listing on Tekonsha’s site for the L. I’m thinking it’s the same as the Grand Cherokee.

Thanks

I was looking at the plug and play cable for the Prodigy controller. If I order the one for a 2020 Grand Cherokee and it doesn’t do I just need to use the wire that comes with the car and splice it to the controller?

Is the listing for the Durango the same as the Grand Cherokee? The Durango is a 3 row Grand Cherokee.

Yes the 2021 Durango uses the same as the 2021 Grand Cherokee. So it’s probably the same as “L”. If not hopefully it will have a pigtail in the glove box when I pick it up on Wednesday morning.

Did that work out for you? Just curious, did your Grand Cherokee L not come with the towing package and 7-pin connector?

My L came with a factory hitch so it did include the 7 way pin connector. What was in question was a brake controller. If it helps anyone purchasing an L the prewired adapters offered by several manufacturers are the same as any Grand Cherokee 2015 to 2021. Most manufacturers will not have a parts number listed yet for the L.

OK just an old fart question.
What is with the adapter?
Is that just a plug that the tow vehicle manufacture already has installed in the vehicle?

All that I needed to do was connect 4 wires. Power, ground, stop light signal, and power to the trailer brakes.

What, if anything has changed?
Couldn't you just remove the what I assume to be a plastic adapter, extract the wires and determine which wire does what function, and just wire it in yourself?

Yes you could or you could just plug it in assuming you have correct adapter. Usually there is a plug under the dash somewhere in the harness. Other cars I’ve owned alway came with the female part of this connection that had bare wires or a pigtail. Most brake controller manufacturers offer a kit so there is no splicing.
