eaz-lift hitch, is it all here or not?

hi airstream world,

a hitch came with my '63 gt. its a eaz-lift. i took some pics of the tongue and the 3 bars, 2 750/7500 wd bars and 1 anti-sway cam. i also have the receiver and ball but it hangs too low and hits my driveway. easily replaced with the adjustable one from what i see on ebay, probably can get it at u-haul too. my question is: are there parts i dont have? again all i have is whats in the pics. it looks like it has only one antisway bar. let me know what you think.

Looks like its all there to me. On my Eaz Lift the pivots to snap up the chains use D rings to lock them down, it looks like yours uses a different system to lock them.

I see the clips to hold the friction sway bar in your pic.

I'm told its a good idea to carry a spare part 14 on page 2 of the PDF. Evidently these can break and fail to retain the bars.

Do you have a picture of the ball mount where the spring bars insert? You might want to check and see if the exterior springs and interior detents that hold the bars in are intact and working. If not, kits are sold to replace them. I had a detent break on on a previous eas-lift.

Jim how do you get the pin which holds the bar retainer out? Grab the head with vise grips? I carry the kit but have never had to use it.

ok, cool, its all there. is there a guide somewhere that shows you how to set it up correctly? i sure don't know myself, exactly.

i know the 2 bars with the chains attach to the 2 thick side brackets, but what are the smaller wire ones for? how are the chains adjusted?

i know the anti-sway thing-a-ma-jig attaches to the small balls on the tongue and on the smaller ball, but how do you adjust it properly?

i'll post a pic or two of the tv side of the hitch tomorrow so you fellas can have a look see.

lastly, i have read on this forum that the hitch setup can adversely effect your coach. this issue may be the cause of a couple of popped rivets i have noticed on the inner shell and 1 on the outer as well. do y'all think its because the hitch wasnt set up right or is it just a case of the hitch transferring the jostling energy to the coach itself?

The pin was not hard to remove. I just used my fingers. If it were stuck,though, I'd just drive in through with a punch and it should fall out of the hole. The problem I had was the outer spring steel holder was broken on one side. There are two grooves on each side of the detent (pin) that slide onto the spring steel holder keeping the detent in place and preventing it rotating. When one side of the spring broke, there was nothing to hold the detent in place, so it wouldn't keep the spring bar locked in. It's a good idea to carry the kit as you do.

I used this hitch on my SOB which I just sold a month ago, but I made sure the new owner knew about the kit.
