Does your repair shop have a problem with your ProPride or Hensley hitch?

Reminds me of another situation...
After hounding the local car stereo shop to fix my SiriusXM radio, setting an appointment, taking off work early, and showing up at the scheduled time...
I got excuses, excuses, excuses.
"Can you come back tomorrow?"
"No. I took off work today to get it done. I can't take off every afternoon."
This store is going downhill. They no longer sell Alpine or JL Audio...
Like the local GE appliance store, the local John Deere tractor store, the local Nissan store, and the local Chinese restaurant- no service or poor swervice... Geographically handicapped? maybe...
First excuse:
I've never seen an antenna with a connector like that. The new ones have a different connector.
OK.
I go home and bring them an antenna, tuner, and adapter from home.
Second excuse:
We have a truck in there we need to get out and there is only one person here right now.
Third excuse:
The antenna wire insulation has some nicks in it. It all worked when removed in 2012.
Fourth excuse:
I'm not sure I'd know how to hook up this old equipment. It isn't rocket science. It can only plug in one way...
I told them how easy it was and that I was 99% sure it was the antenna, so try that first.
No luck.
I went home and fixed it myself within an hour. It was the antenna. I plugged in a different antenna and got SiriusXM 60's on 6 rather than "no signal"...
Nobody wants to work any more.
No work ethic.
Mentally lazy.
Don't want to solve a problem/figure it out.
Seems like leaving the Hensley/ProPride stinger would be all that is necessary.
Maybe sour grapes because you didn't purchase the Blue Ox, Equal-i-zer, or EazLift that they sell?
They really love to use the liability excuse...
They work harder at making excuses and dodging work...
It would take less effort and energy to solve the problem/work it out.
In the time they spent arguing with you about it they could have just done it/solved it/worked it out in less time.
Human nature?
The way people are?

I sometimes do wonder if the "can do" attitude is becoming a thing of the past...nowadays it appears that if the problem is not one that has been solved by some technician multiple times in the past, they are either unwilling or unable to come up with a solution.

I guess I don't encounter this too much, because I'm usually the one doing the work--and I don't have any convenient excuses. The only one I get is, "I have to run to the store and get a part/tool/material to finish the job." That excuse is very temporary, IMHO, and a good way to add to the tool and spare part collection...

First time I went to Bob Jones RV here in Houston the service manager laughed and said they had 3 Airstreams in for repair with Hensley hitches, just leave the stinger with the trailer.

Ha! Was just about to respond about them. Harry, the service manger there, told me I could either leave the stinger, or he'd build a lot bar since he'd been meaning to do that for a while. Can't say enough good things about Bob Jones--top notch all the way around. I see several PPP-style hitches in the yard every time I'm down there.

Yup, exactly the gadget I was referring to...

Note that it will ONLY fit a ProPride socket--the Hensley Manufacturing ones are a lot smaller.

If possible, I'd tie the locking plate to it with a bit of chain so they don't get separated...

The first time we asked for service on our 1999 safari w/Hensly hitch, they just removed the hitch, moved it, then re-installed. From that point forward, they just built an adaptor for their fork lift. No problems, no charges.

Get mine serviced at CanAm all the time. Great service and knowledge base and have absolutely no problems moving the unit into service bays.

Got mine serviced at Desert RV in Mesa. I just left the stinger - and there were no problems

I thought by now Vogt in Fort worth would have secured an adapter for thier Hensley and ProPride customers. Bayer in Comanche, and North Dallas RV in Texas , both Vogt competitors, have acommodated HA and PP customers for a long time. When I had a pivot bearing fail several years ago, North Dallas RV called the Hensley factory and they sent me a new hitch immediately and North Dallas installed it for me. Now that is customer service with and extra effort. Not and the "excuse we don't see many of those." If you go to Airstream Service in JC you will see more HAs and Pos than you can shake a stick at.

The can do attitude has morphed into find any excuse not to do anything. It’s sad.

Problem solving has become a lost skillset in America. Maybe they are putting something in the water.

As my wife puts it, “Lack of home education...”. It’s parents not doing their job properly.

By the way, last time I was at the storage place I noticed 6 Hensleys out of maybe 50 RVs. Not that uncommon.

Twelve percent? Or 88% without. Is my math correct?
