Curt Hitch Receiver- Comments Needed
I'm thinking about replacing my current OEM Chevy receiver with a Curt model that is a class 5. I tow other stuff besides the Airstream, but was wondering if anyone has any pros or cons with that brand? The OEM bolts to the frame and also under the back bumper for extra support and I so does this one I'm looking at except that it is a lot more heavy duty. That is the only reason I'm choosing that brand(because of the extra attach points), so any thoughts you have about Curt that I might be missing like quality of welds, paint, fit would be helpful. I'll be purchasing online so I won't actually get to see one until it arrives at my doorstep.

I'm not familiar with that brand. What kind of Chevy are you putting it on? Also read the description carefully. Some Class V receivers have a 2.5" box, and require an adapter for a 2" hitch bar.

I had a Curt WD hitch, and I thought it was an excellent value.

Hi,
The front hitch (for the bikes) I put on my Titan is a Curt. Very well made and painted. All hardware was included. Decent install instructions. Good product

I've got a Curt ball mount and spring bars. Very good quality, easy to adjust. No negative comments at all.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback on the quality of Curt products. Has there been any problems using an adapter from 2.5 inch to 2 inch? I'll have to check their web site again to to see if I can get a class V with a 2 inch receiver with the additional bumper support I want.
My TV is a 07 1 ton dually and when not towing the AS it will be towing an equipment trailer from time to time. That second trailer loaded down will weigh between 10,000 and 11,000 lbs. That is the reason for going heavy duty. I'll be using spring bars with the heavy trailer that are rated at 1000#. But when the AS is in tow I'll be using a light duty 550lb spring bars and dual cam sway set up.
I hope this all makes sense.

I also had a Curt WD hitch with our previous trailer and had no problems at all.

No interest in where these are made? Are they made in the US or are they imported from China?
There's an interesting story here if you care to look it up.

The interesting part of the story is that Curt and Tammy started out importing trailer parts from Taiwan. After they got the business established, they built a manufacturing plant in the US to make hitch receivers.
Kind of backwards from the normal business model.

Just a note. I installed the new receiver on the truck yesterday. I'm happy with the purchase and it fits perfectly. They make a nice product.

I am having to replace the factory GM hitch on my one ton crew cab dually. I have been using the Hensley Arrow hitch and noticed the welds starting to crack.
I am going with the Curt XD hitch (#15513) and it $175.80 plus tax. It is rated for 1,600# tongue weight & 16,000# using weight distribution hitches.

You can't go wrong with Curt. for a receiver. I used the 15211 on mine and paid $314 delivered and no tax. Sounds like you got a deal.
Quality is tops and fit on my 07 Chevy was perfect. I have dual exhaust and it's a dually too. So I had to really make sure the fit was right on the money. I had no problems.
Just make sure you buy the one made for your truck model and year and not a universal. I did and because of that didn't need to make any adjustments or drill any holes.
Good luck!

I looked at the Curt #15512, but it didn't have the 2" drop and I didn't want to swap out the Hensley hitch bar, so I went with the #15513 which is closer to the height and setup of my existing GM factory hitch.

Well, looks like you did the best thing. And as far as what you paid you made out great. Let us know how it all worked out. I was really surprised how well the thing was painted and the quality of the paint. Looks bullit proof.

Got the hitch replaced today before the heat got too high! It took longer to figure out how to deal with the electrical socket than to install the hitch. We found more broken welds after we removed the GM hitch. The Curt Mfg hitch is so much better than the factory GM one.
