Clevis Pin for Equalizer Bar Attachment

Had my spring bars on sitting on shrubbery, and a branch took my circlip out, its buried in there somewhere. So I used a spring pin for the trip (per the pix).

Has anyone replaced the stock pins with the spring-lock clevis pins like Blue Ox uses? Critical part, single point of fastening so if that pins moves out for any reason it won't be pretty.

You could probably get OEM part from equilizer. I always carried spare loose hitch parts when we had our AS. Just in case.

Equalizer now sells spring pins...I've been using for two months, works well. Check out their website.

I'm using the type of clevis pin that's in the picture. I have been doing this for several years and many thousands of miles on my 1,000# Equalizer hitch. No problems encountered.

I don't use what you show, but do carry spares of the Equalizer pin and cotter pin clip and the "elephant" clips for the bars on the A frame. I figure a spare set is a good idea since not having these parts might be hard to find on the road if they got lost or failed

That's one of the items I've trained myself to never set on the bumper. I keep a small plastic tub with Equalizer parts that I set on the propane tank cover. In/out.

I used those for one season, have gone back to the stock pin and keeper. The spring-lock pins have found a home in the spare parts box.

I use a small plastic box with a clip/cap that I keep in the back of the pickup. All clips (pro pride) when I unhook and spares are kept in the box. Just a habit that saves me a lot of time and saves me trips in and out of the airstream.

Good eye on that. Equalizer does in fact have official "socket pins w/thumb clips"
SKU: 95-01-9415

I went to ebay and saw someone in Canada with rough looking 2x spare pin pack, so I bought that too.
